Ya know, my northern friends laugh hysterically at uzz sutherners for goin' crazy when a bit of snow is forecast.

Now what I was wondering if they go crazy when clear weather is predicted?

Can any of youse guys clear this up for me?

My fellow Hoosiers, are pretty much crazy all the time. Recently, we had an inch of snow. People went nuts, accidents and slide-offs. Today there is a lot of snow, at least 5" here at my place. It's in the country, so that may be the reason. Some roads are closing. It will get worse tonight. The winds are supposed to be 15-25mph. It's best, if you can, to stay home.

Now if you want truly insane, be here for tornado season. You would think, no one had ever seen "a cloud come up".

No joke. A few years ago, we had a tornado go through Indianapolis. The race was going on and a "finals" basketball game was being played, downtown. The tornado, passed by the race track and then headed for downtown Indianapolis. It could have been horrific, but it was handled very well. How neither one was damaged is a mystery. We also have floods. People don't get out, until the water comes up through the floor registers. These people are just different.
I used to live in Idaho. We never blinked at the snowy weather--it is just part of life, and everything carried on. Of course, it helps to have all the snow removal equipment, but roads and parking lots still can be covered with ice.

I do not remember any violent thunderstorms when living out there (1969-82). I am still scared silly with bad thunderstorms here (tornado weather makes me beyond scared), and one of my demands for this house we built recently was to have a storm room in the basement. Air conditioning was the other "must."

I used to live in northern New York, same thing there. Shake the snow out of the boots and carry on.
