This is what our wise founders prohibited.

In for a penny, in for a pound. The fair-minded Brits figure if the State funds Anglican schools, it must fund religious schools of other faiths in some rough proportion.

It's nonsense. It's Medieval.

It's certainly UnAmerican.

Long live America!

But the State was funding many schools- Anglican, Muslim, Hindu and Catholic. Therein, they made their big mistake.
I don't believe the answer is to take the faith out of the schools, but to remove the State funding to the schools. OR allow "equal access".
We receive ZERO money for our "faith" school, and pay dearly- a high tuition, supply fees, etc. And I find that it's very, very well worth it.

I was not, but my elementary school teachers were kind and affectionate people.

By all accounts, nuns are nonesuch.

My teachers were also. And I was not afforded the luxury of private/perochial education....
Thesedays, it makes me sad how teachers have to behave with potential litigation on their minds all the time. No hugs, no paddles, etc...sad.

Hi Deep,

Not so! When I was in school in Sheffield, and I strongly suspect when you were in the Sheffield school system -- those kids who went up to Jr. High in the Roman Catholic school were head and shoulders above we public school kids.

They had better study habits, better skills, and, without exception, did better at Sheffield High.

And, I have the personal experience of watching my own children and grandchildren. My son and daughter went to public school. My five grandchildren are all in a Christian school -- and, I can tell you that the level of education is higher in the Christian school.

And, they do not have to waste time bothering with all the Politically Correct garbage. They can just concentrate on academics and learning. Praise God for Christian schools.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Ha! You think? Funny stories? for sure. But I do believe the nuns to be quite harmless. lol. Dude were you slapped on the hand with a ruler or something? !

VP..Your comment made me both cringe and giggle..because I was slapped on the hand with a ruler (inside palm) by a teacher ..It was either Kindergarden or 1st grade i believe, Texas, and a public school..no nuns involved..lol

Complete BS. I looked into that for my own child. Speaking only for the local area (and I assume it would apply all over) religious schools around here are attended by kids with parents who have money and care about their child's edu-ma-kay-shun.

Compare that same demographic to the same group of kids in public school and you will find that public school kids not only perform better but achieve a more rounded education.

And public school kids aren't forced to endure "biology" classes that insist the earth is 6000 years old.

SK, I just don't know about that. I think there are too many variables and "exceptions" to make any blanket statements on church versus public school.
I have seen kids excel from both. And fail from both.
At the end of the day, I think it is 99% family. Help with homework, support, guidance and the like.
And of course, socioeconomics play a humongaloid role.
I know at our "church" school there are scholarships and financial aid available, so that ALL children who wish to attend may do so.
Again, I agree that both public and private in this area are great....but kids are going to sink or swim regardless of what (if any) religious education they recieve at school..
Jmo.

Hi Sofa,

It took you a while. You had to spit, jump up and down, and rant for a while. But, then you FINALLY got around to your REAL rejection of Christian schools -- they do not teach exclusively Darwinian Evolution. Can you imagine? These fine schools actually present both evolution and Creation to the students -- and allow them to use their intelligence to decide which is right.

Sofa, I don't know where you live or where you went to school, or when or if. However, when I attended school in the public school system in Sheffield -- without exception, those students who had attended the Roman Catholic elementary school before coming into Sheffield High -- by far excelled, during our four years at Sheffield High, above we who grew up in the public school system.

Personally, I do not believe it has gotten better -- and, if it has changed, I would say the change was a deterioration instead of an improvement. Why? Because the Liberals created a new societal illness called Political Correctness.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
