I was 13 in 1980 but I never really cared for the music of the 80's. I was an anomaly of my time. I was obsessed with The Beatles. I had every Beatles album. My friends thought I was weird. I guess I have always marched to a different drum.
There was some great music made in the 80's. Especially in 1984. But there was also a lot of crappy pop music made as well.

Prince could be nasty, but he was/is musically brilliant. I remember a shocked hurt the first time I heard "When Doves Cry" & shocked that someone understood.
INXS "Need You Tonight", IMO, is one of the sexiest songs ever written.
Loved the Stray Cats' swinging style..."Stray Cat Strut" is an all time favorite.
There was a crazy mix of dance music in the 80s and I loved to dance. Now I like the lyrics to be deeper than "No parkin' baby, no parkin' on the dance floor", but at the time, it was perfect.
