Even with all the gains made by Republicans and the Pseudo-Republicans (Tea Party), there is something of a silver lining. The most consummately ignorant, bubble-brained, dimbulb nutjobs, Sharron Angle and Christine O'Donnell, went down in flames. We will not have to turn on the TV set and hear their rancid, rambling rhetoric every day.

A second reason to be grateful is that in at least a few important races, money did NOT buy success. Meg Whitman laid out over $120 million
in her unsuccessful effort to become governor of California. Jerry Brown spent about one fifth that amount and cleaned her plow.

Linda McMahon, the WWE Wrestling moll, spent something like $50 million of the loot she earned from production of inane,family-unfriendly "entertainment" in the form of faked-up wrestling with faked-up (but nevertheless very realistic) violence and gratuituous sexual exploitation. She lost big time to a career Democratic politician.

I don't know how many millions "Mad as Hell" Carl Paladino spent in his unsuccessful effort to become governor of New York, but he, too, lost to a career Democratic politician, and the foul-mouthed, dirty-minded, pornography-obsessed varmint deserved to lose.

If Sharron Angle was such a bubble brained idiot, why did Harry have the fight of his life to hold his senate seat?

I would not count out the Tea Party so quickly. It's not going anywhere and Obama only has two more years to show he is actually listening to people.

California gave their state back to the guy who screwed it up in the first place.
OK, it's California. And they voted down pot again. Now that is ironic.

Well, I'm happy the way things went. I hope there will not be any 2 month recounts for any races.

And Bentley is our governor. I'm good. Smiler

You mean this guy?
"You said you don't have to lie anymore . . . . . What did you lie about when you were governor?"

Jerry Brown: "It's all a lie. . . . . You pretend you have a plan. . . . . You run for office and the assumption is, 'Oh, I know what to do.' You don't. I don't have a plan for California. . . . . You say you're going to lower taxes, You're gonna put people to work. You're gonna improve the schools. You're gonna stop crime. Crime is up. Schools are worse. Taxes are higher. I mean, be real."

Very well stated beternU. I hope we are led to the "land flowing with milk and honey." Where is the line?

There you have it, Ladies and Gentlemen, the reason there is gridlock. Bitter "Old Soldiers", such as the OP and those of each party, whom will follow the party to Hell.
No give! No quarter! Carry the colors!
bitterneveryone, that was EXACTLY the kind of intellectual Onanism I have come to expect from you, yet I agree on one point. for different reasons, but I agree none the less. I'm really kind of glad Angle, O'Donnell, and Whitman didn't win. First it will help keep the fighters humble, second it reveals where the mistakes were really made and the next time can be avoided. Seriously though, "down in flames"? "I guess ye takes yer comfert where's ye kin git it." Wink

The problem with you liberals is that you're wanting the government to give you someone elses milk and honey. The line for milk and honey is called the employment line, get a job.
If the Republicans carry out their promise to keep obstructing everything the Dems try to do, the economy will nosedive even further. Then it'll be the Repubs everyone blames. That bodes well for the Dems in the 2012 election.

What people don't seem to understand is that it will take TIME for the economy to recover. First the Dems sweep congress, then the Repubs sweep congress. But what really changes?
The Republicans didn't promise to obstruct "everything" the Dems were trying to do. They promised to obstruct everything the Dems were doing that are hurting our country and economy. If they don't fulfill that promise they will be fired next. It takes more than TIME for the economy to improve. It takes good governing and TIME. We've tried 2 years TIME with bad governing not lets try 2 years with hopefully better governing. If nothing really changes then it will bode well for Dems in 2012. I'm hoping that's not the case.

There are now icicles cascading from the ceiling of hell for I AGREE with ferrellj (well on the last two and one half sentences of his previous post anyway.) This election may cause something to actually GET DONE concerning the multitude of problems in this country, and if anything is accomplished for the next two years there must be some cooperation and accountability,

I have been employed continuously since July of 1962. Does THAT qualify as having a job??

Wow, it took almost a year but rocky finally made a decent post. If nothing gets done in these 2 years then we'll probably both be voting for dems next time.

It does, it also tells me you aren't expecting milk and honey from anyone.

Well it's official: HELL HAS FROZEN OVER!! ferrellj actually gave me a compliment! Big Grin Well sort of "backhanded" but enough to be an example to Democrats and Republicans. Now if me and ferrellj can learn to get along, THERE IS hope for the politicians!
