I just heard wind of the drug bust that went down in October of 2008.

The son of a building inspector in Florence was caught with 20 pounds of marijuana in Louisiana.

The young man lives in Florence, and was pulled over while returning from Texas with the load.

The load was bound for the Shoals.

Anyone else heard about this?

The man was caught attempting to bring 20 pounds of drugs into our communities.

The news of someone attempting to bring 20 pounds of drugs into our community is newsworthy.

Specifically pointing out that it is the child of any individual (an adult child) is unnecessary and smacks of prejudice.

What difference would it make if it's the kid of a building inspector, a Burger King owner, or someone who works for TVA?

Not taking up for T/D, but could it be because they didn't find out about it (if they ever did) until after it was newsworthy. That type of story isn't all that newsworthy...it happens quite regularly. Don't be shocked...it does.
Could it be that it happened in LA and there is no guarantee where he was going with the pot and since it happened in 2008 and it is now 2010 -- I still don't see the purpose of trying to pull a daddy into it unless you wish to try to defame his character based on his adult son's actions. in other words, stir the pot with an agenda that is seen through.

Please tell us Kanye, where is the young man that was arrested now? Because unless he is out of jail and dealing in our area -- this story does nothing to serve a true purpose NOW. Back then? Yes, but not over 2 years later.

He is out of jail.
He is in our area.
I have no idea if he is dealing drugs or not. People don't usually advertise it.

And I have no vendetta and am no coward (great post btw). Just thought it was an interesting story that might raise a few eyebrows.

If a local contractor hired a convicted felon (while no one else is hiring) just to gain favor from a building inspector (the felon's dad) , would it be newsworthy?

This scenario is likely playing out in our area.
It seem the only eyebrows it raises are those wondering why you find this interesting two years later. Scenarios that are likely playing out are not illegal or newsworthy. If the guy is committing a crime now and you have direct knowledge of that, take it to law enforcement. If you are speculating and bringing in family members because something might be wrong - leave this family alone. I have no idea whom you are concerned with but no one deserves this.

Didn't call you a coward, so apparently you read that part in for yourself.

What does it matter if his son is working for a contractor? That means he has a job and is being a functioning member of society then it really doesn't matter to me -- so long as he isn't dealing drugs. Now if you can prove that he is dealing drugs then it might be noteworthy -- otherwise, you seem very set on stirring a pot which seems very much like a vendetta. So if the shoe fits, by all means wear it well.
You guys act as if blindly approving building inspections is ethical.

When your home burns down due to an electrical problem, and you find out that the shoddy work was done by a company who is using a convicted felon as a pawn, how will you feel?

Now compound this feeling by knowing that the electrical inspections (which are in place to protect you from this kind of stuff) were hastily approved by the felon's dad.... It's not going to be a good feeling.

This story is an example of small town good-ole-boy-ness at it's finest.

You're going to have to be a lot more specific before you get any sympathy with this story. Hinting around isn't getting it done.

I'm still not getting what your issue is. Are you mad because a convicted felon was able to get a job or are you mad at the building inspector and making unfounded accusations about his ability to do his job? Which one are you mad at and attacking?
