What difference is it going to make? In 30 years, (probably much less) Gay marriage will be the norm. Years ago people were raising Hell about Blacks mixing with Whites in school's, in churches, in restaurants. Now it's the norm & Black/Whites are marrying & having children.

Standing firm will not last.

"We're determining right now where Southern Baptists will stand 30 years from now," Mohler said. "The seminaries are ground zero for that... We're going to stand firm....We are going to stand firm in the inerrancy of the scripture."

You are unqualified to meaningfully comment on the plural form, since you have demonstrated with your own illiteracy that you do not know the difference between the possessive (one's) and the plural (ones). Your comment is a joke!

Your errors are no more few and far between than anyone else. Now go, berate yourself for a while.

You're comparing apples & oranges. The Bible isilent on racial segregation. It is not silent on homosexuality.

Oh really?

http://www.openbible.info/topics/segregation

Let me be more specific. Yes, at the time the Jews were God's chosen people, He sought to keep them separated from non-believers. There is nothing said about race in the NT, but it still tells us not to be linked with unbelievers. Not one mention of black/white interaction in the entire Bible.

Yes kate, they are a race

DNA links prove Jews are a 'race,'  says genetics expert

In his new book, “Legacy: A Genetic History of the Jewish People,” Harry Ostrer, a medical geneticist and professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, claims that Jews are different, and the differences are not just skin deep. Jews exhibit, he writes, a distinctive genetic signature. Considering that the ****s tried to exterminate Jews based on their supposed racial distinctiveness, such a conclusion might be a cause for concern. But Ostrer sees it as central to Jewish identity.

“Who is a Jew?” has been a poignant question for Jews throughout our history. It evokes a complex tapestry of Jewish identity made up of different strains of religious beliefs, cultural practices and blood ties to ancient Palestine and modern Israel. But the question, with its echoes of genetic determinism, also has a dark side.

Geneticists have long been aware that certain diseases, from breast cancer to Tay-Sachs, disproportionately affect Jews. Ostrer, who is also director of genetic and genomic testing at Montefiore Medical Center, goes further, maintaining that Jews are a homogeneous group with all the scientific trappings of what we used to call a “race.”

The Southern Baptists have always been on the wrong side of things.  Good to see they are now planning ahead for that.

If Jews were a race, you couldn't convert to Judaism any more than Michael Jackson could become white, no matter how hard he tried.

Pretty harsh slurs to generalize a group of 16 million people. What's the reasoning behind your accusations?

Fred, lefty wackos, hypocrites, bigots, and self-righteous nut-jobs, don't count with other lefty wackos, hypocrites, bigots, and self-righteous nut-jobs. My goodness, didn't you know it's ONLY Republicans and fundy Baptists that oppose anything in this country? I'm not sure how they explain beternnun and other lefties like him because they won't. They ignore them. Read any thread with ranting about homosexuals. Usually beternnun has a post or two labeling them perverts and such, then read who gets the responses from the lefties. It sure isn't beternnun.

I could've said that about Jews, Catholics, all protestants, Yankees, Atheists,

Californication, Ohio St. and demorats.........

It will be very interesting to see what transpires over the next few weeks/months after today's divided Supreme Court ruling.
I do believe the issuance of marriage licenses should be left to the individual states, and I wonder how long it takes before we hear our first lawsuit from a couple being refused a wedding in a church...

The Supreme Court has specifically said that churches aren't required to marry anyone they don't chose to.  Churches have never been required to marry anyone.  Let's face it, the truth of the matter is that most Christian churches are segregated racially.  Have you ever heard of any church being forced to marry an interracial couple?

As for issuance of licenses being issued or not on a state-by-state basis, that is all well and good, until one state doesn't recognize the marriage of a couple in another state.  When different state laws conflict with each other, the Supreme Court settles matters.  It was only a matter of time that the Federal Courts would get involved.
