I was driving down the Florence Blvd. and turned down the street right beside Office Depot. As I was driving down this street obeying the speed limit I came across a set of speed bumps which literally threw me around inside my car. My questions are:
Why are these speed bumps in the middle of a mildly traveled road? If it is for the church that the speed bumps are in front of, what makes them so special?

If this practice of putting speed bumps in front of every church keeps growing we are in for a long commute every morning and evening just to travel 5 miles. These speed bumps may have been discussed before, but this is the first time I have been across them.

When you wrote "...speed bumps which literally threw me around inside my car," I wondered, 'were you wearing your seat belt?'

Also, where inside your car were you thrown?

Did you lose control of your car and crash?

Are you familiar with 'speed tables'?

They're elongated, elevated tableaus with inclined approaches and departures that are sucessfully used as traffic calming devices.

That is, they're a device that is effective, yet harmless to your vehicle when appropriately driven over.

Typically, they're four or more inches in height, and three to four feet in length, and just wide enough so that an emergency vehicle's chassis can drive over them at increased speed and without being affected by them.

A typical passenger vehicle cannot.
