I don't usually reply to comments in this form, but, if you ate at our place and was charged almost 20 bucks for a plate you were over charged.
The most expensive item we have is a large gumbo which is $ 8.00 and comes with a side of potato salad and Bread.
Wow. Thanks for the correction, HTG.
PEJ, shame on you!
BTW, I don't consider myself brilliant, but certainly not an ignoramus, and I would not have known how to pronounce lagniappe. I think the name is whimsical and a great idea.

I stand corrected that was for TWO plates of the worst mess that the dog wouldn't even eat!I am still amazed @ how bad it was. OK Corrall's chicken is WAYYYY better. Give them less than six months. I won't be back.
OK Corral's chicken is pretty much better than everyones though
The U.S. Department of Defense defines psychological warfare as follows:
"The planned use of propaganda and other psychological actions having the primary purpose of influencing the opinions, emotions, attitudes, and behavior of hostile foreign groups in such a way as to support the achievement of national objectives."
Even though PEJ is not of national or probably even of local significance, they are waging psychological warfare/operations for 1 of 2 reasons I'd guess:
1) Personal bone to pick (no pun intended but I hear OK Corral chicken bones are superior), or
2) Feel extremely threatened due to the numerous stellar reviews around town (not necessarily reflected on this forum)
The last egregious post is indicative that PEJ is affiliated in some manner with a competing restaurant, probably of close proximity.
Let me explain further...
PEJ post #1 - A quick google search to explain the name. Nice thought...."sounds like lunch to me"...
Post #2 - "I sent some folks from Ohio...they loved it"... Sounds nice. Hidden message was: "Yankees like it, so maybe it's not so good"...
Post #3 - Total misrepresentation that was unexpectedly called out/corrected by owner.
Post #4 - Child-like and mean-spirited. "I won't be going back."
And of course simple research of PEJ's previous posts reveal much more of the same thought process with negative undertones.
With this said, Captain Oblivious & PEJ are either in cahoots or simply the same person...

"Loved the B'que chicken & potatoe salad"
Sorry for the afforementioned assumptions. PEJ & Captain Oblivious is Dan Quayle. It took me awhile but the e on the end of potato is a dead give-away. I'm stunned I didn't catch this at first read. ****it Dan! Why do you care?

I've been 3 times and had a great experience all three times. My only suggestion was that they somehow arrange seating for those who are waiting for food. My suggestion was to the owner IN A PRIVATE MESSAGE. She promptly responded and explained that they are working on it and it is a park issue that they are trying to resolve. They just opened so could we please be a little patient as they work out the kinks? I don't know these folks personally, but they seem to be really sweet people. I personally think Tuscumbia needs more places to eat and I applaud them for having the courage to take a risk in this economy!
i've had the chicken, beans and rice, and gumbo.
all were great. the gumbo was different, it had smoked chicken in it.

Hi Slippage, I'm sorry that you wasted so much of your time trying to figure out if I have another persona.
Sad but I'm just one person that tried the new restaurant and thought the food was awful.
But hey that's my opinion. No warfare intended but you sound WAAAAY wigged out because we didn't like the food.

Hey guys we have had the chicken plates the gumbo the bread pudding enjoyed it very much the portions are large the staff is friendly and we will be back. Just my opinion
PEJ, just a guess, but I imagine 'slippage' simply desires to see a new business in our area succeed. With all due respect, after you claimed to have spent $20 a plate, which is impossible, it's not a stretch to suspect that the rest of your post is an exaggeration as well. JMHO
Yes I did spend 20 bucks, actually 17.?? to be exact on TWO PLATES. However just made a statement that we did not enjoy their food. Nothing personal we'll just go elsewhere. Thought it was SLOP! No Exaggeration at all, ask my dog!
"ask my dog!"
See above. PEJ continues to engage in childish insults removing all credibility.
And you only wasted about 5 minutes of my time. Of course it was well worth it...

I paid $21 recently for 2 of us to eat grease-soaked slop at Captain D's. I'd much prefer to get 2 large gumbos, potatoe salad and that awesome cornbread for $17. I fail to see that $17 for 2 people to eat is outrageous.

"Thanks Stinky... Sounds like the deputy fire marshal was being extremely thorough. Hasn't there been a restaurant in there before? Sparky's?
And willie, please diagram the sentence in my post and clarify where the breakdown in grammar took place. You can't.... cuz there ain't nerrn wrong with it.
But seriously though... grow a pair and learn how to properly rebut someone, rather than being a flag throwing grammar nazi who doesn't even know what they're talking about.
At least I started my sentences with capital letters.
Oooooooooooooooooooooooo burnnnnnnnnnnn.
Lame @ss dork."
Kanye, maybe I can help. It was "their selves" that sparked the grammar police's attention. "Themselves" would have been the proper word.
