I found out from a friend that has been at ECM this week that on the ground floor they have a full line of ALL Starbucks coffee's. They carry all of it with the exception of the cold drinks. She went and got the normal and said it was great! This morning I called in my oder and pulled under the pavillion and went in and picked it up! They do this all the time and they are open until 11:00.... So if you are like me and love Starbucks then check it out... I have decided that I need to get out more often since this is something that has been here a while!

Seems like a horrible idea if you ask me. While I'm not faulting YOU, I'm faulting whoever had this idea. I'm not sure that it's a good idea to be able to order a coffee and pull up to the curb and run in and grab some coffee. It just seems like it would block the way for people that may need to be ACTUALLY IN THE HOSPITAL. You know, sick people?

Why couldn't Starbucks set up shop somewhere in the downtown area?

I agree with this specially for people that can hardly get around after being in the hospital that are going home.
It appears to be very creative on their part to attempt to offer something that a lot of hospitals have outside this area....My daughter-in-law was just in a Hospital where they have the cafteria, then they have a "Bistro" with upper scale food. The Food was outstanding and the general public was coming to the hospital just to eat at the Bistro.
The Hospital rooms were large. They were designed more like a family living room, sofa with fold out bed, HDTV, Kitchennet with small Fridge and Coffee Maker, then the Patients bed.
They did this to accompany the family members who were staying with the patient.
It was better than some Holiday Inn Express or Hamilton Inn's I have stayed in.

That sounds like a wonderful "perk" for family members who are sitting with their loved ones. Not to mention the LEAST a hospital can do to help their own staff.

I mean, admit it, years ago hospitals would NOT allow family members to stay with patients after a certain time at night. NOW many sit with their family which ultimately saves the hospital MANY $$$$$ in Nursing staff because the family is doing most of the "work".

Things around here need to change and maybe that is a good start.
A perk? Sure.
Unnecessary? Most definitely.

Florence has been waiting for YEARS to get a Starbucks. Now, you have to go inside the hospital to get a drink. And we've already had one person say that they pulled up and basically left their car at the curb to run inside and get their drink.

Wouldn't you be mad if you were bringing your sick parent or grandparent downstairs to get in the car, but you had to make them wait? Then, you look up and here comes someone walking out with some coffee in their hands and gets in their car and drives off...

I was answering Trader's comment above, not talking about parking at all. Sorry I wasn't clear on that.
Pulling up to go in and get the coffee is not in the ER area.. Second of all there is an area for this service and you are blocking nothing.. The perk of where you pull is so that you do not have to pay a dollar for parking... If you want to coffee you go to the MAIN entrance but you pull past the pavillion to the curb where nothing is blocked...

If you are in a hurry to get to the hospital the ER entrance might be more appropriate.
