The fundamental problem is the TRASHY PEOPLE who are responsible for this. The Shoals is full of them. They KNOW that littering is wrong, but in their arrogance and "screw you" mentality, they do it anyway for spite. They are loathsome and odious and they are legion, and they are not unique to the Shoals. These barbaric clods make up a sizeable proportion of the residents of this country. The only way to deal with them is to have better surveillance, preferably with hidden cameras, and to assess maximum penalties when these swine are caught and put their names and photographs in the paper. That would signal their beastly brethren that they, too, might get caught and fined/jailed and put on public dispaly for the scum they are!
I have to agree with you on this one beter. It's people who have no respect for the area they live in. I wonder what these poeple's homes look like. Enforcing the litter laws, and letting people know they enforce them by putting them in the paper the same as other crimial offense will help some, but not solve all. I remember when i first moved to Orange Beach a couple of years ago, and wondered why i thought it was so beautiful, other than having the awesome beach right at my back door, but it was the cleanliness of the city itself. No cigarette butts, candy wrappers, coffee cups, 20 oz plastics bottles, nothing of the sort to be found on the roadsides there. The reason is not because we didnt have trashy people, it's because the trashy people couldn't afford $500.00 to pay the fine for throwing a cigarette butt down. And yes, this litter law was in full effect there. I know Florence isn't Orange Beach, but we could keep our area a little cleaner if we could do our part to help by keeping it clean, and asking law enforcement to really enforce litter laws. The Shoals area is a beautiful area with it's River, creeks and parks. I'd love to see this area really "clean-up" so it's true beauty can shine.
