For the past couple of days this site has been running slow on my computer. It keeps making the clicking sound you get when you click on a link, over and over again. Evry once in a while a window pops up saying something to the effect that a "script" is running on this site that might make my computer lock up. I don't get these problems anywhere else. Anybody else get this?

Internet explorer. I have never been successful in getting Firefox to load into this Windows Vista piece of junk. I had been borrowing a friend's computer that had a previous version of Windows and had no trouble at all getting Firefox on that one, but when his home computer got rained on and died he needed it back. I SHOULD have gotten a Mac, but finances wouldn't allow it at the time.

I used to get this error occasionally on my desktop running XP but have not seen it in a long time. And like you said It never happened anywhere else but here. I think it's some kind of Java script in the adverts that does not load completely though. I don't think they even realize how messed up this forum is since they switched it over. It's full of crazy little bugs like this though.

O No, have you tried reporting to Microsoft? My four year old Toshiba ran Vista and crashed all the time. It suffered a an unexpected bath about two years ago and I quickly bought a cheap Acer running Windows 7. No crashes, or only a few, but when I had to have it repaired, I decided to buy the loaner, a Toshiba refurb running Vista. I've had it for some weeks now and it runs this site well and I've downloaded Firefox which I love. It already had Chrome--have you tried that?

Have you installed the regular updates from Microsoft? I hate having to shut down for those things, but it could be they would fix your problem. If that doesn't work, and you don't want to upgrade yourself, I would recommend Excel in Florence or H&H in Russellville--both really honest.

Hi O,

After TimesDaily switched to the new forum software, I had a similar problem with Internet Explorer.  In Firefox, the new forum software was okay; but, in IE I had funny problems.  At the time, I was running Windows XP.

Now that I have Windows 7, both seem to work but I am more comfortable with Firefox.

You might try downloading a newer version of Firefox -- or, as Firenze mentioned, try to download the Microsoft Windows and IE updates.

I know it can be very frustrating.  I pray that you get it squared away soon.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Could someone post something in the feedback forum about this for me? All day today it has gotten worse. I can't start a new thread because the "submit" button simply isn't there. I haven't been able to reply to most posts all day, and my PM's won't let me reply either. This is the ONLY site I have any problems with so I doubt it is my computer. Thanks.

And if you don't hear from me for a while, this is the reason. I had a great link to a story I heard this morning that I was going to start a thread on. I guess I'll post it here because this is the first time since earlier this morning that I have gotten this thing to work. Check out the story, especially the last paragraph. I think THIS is the direction this country should be moving in:

It's that stupid ad at the top right of the forum again. Wherever that ad originates from, their servers suck royally. It's not your computer. It only happens to me on this forum. Nowhere else. It finally loaded while I was typing this reply and it's an ad for "The Amish" on PBS.  Maybe it's powered by an old, rusty generator somewhere in Pennsylvania.   LOL

Hey willie, I hate IE and yes, it truly is the worst browser ever but I also don't care for Firefox. It's so stripped down it reminds me of Netscape Navigator. I've been using Opera for close to 3 years and I love it. It does everything Chrome does and more and it doesn't tie up your processor or your RAM like Chrome does. I think it's mostly just what you get used to using though.

Seven, I don't think it's the ad. The ads are "targetted" to each computer - because I do a lot of research about my food allergies all I get is ads for health foods. Right at the moment it's not doing it. First time all day I have been able to type a response without getting that "warning" I mentioned in my first post here. Guess I'd better take advantage of it...

I dunno then. All I know is that whenever it was doing it in the past and that ad finally loaded it would stop and the reply box appears and I'm able to post. Who knows? It hasn't done it to me in a long while but I remember how irritating it is. Hope you figure out what it is then soon. Or maybe it will just quit on it's own. Good luck.

That guy was on "The Daily Show" tonight.

See if you can download Chrome. It runs a lot faster.

IE is horrible, and I took a computer back to Best Buy that had Vista on it. They charged me $96 just to take it back (I had it less than 2 weeks) , because they said nothing was wrong with it. HORSEHOCKEY --- Vista is junk.
