Had a wonderful meal at the Swamp John's location in Killen. I'm glad they opened the new location and my family had a very nice dining experience. The new restaurant's decor is great and the large mural of Wilson Dam, above the entry door is also nice. As for the food it's the same Swamp John's quality. The sweet tea was better than the Muscle Shoals store and all in all everyone in my party would rather eat at the Killen location. While the catfish filets are the same small ones served at the Shoals location that could be how Swamp John's keeps the same quality great tasting food.

I must be the only person in the Shoals area that rates Swamp Johns fish just barely above the fish filet at Micky D's. Almost every other place that serves catfish is much better. IMHO of course.

I only like Swamp John's when it's a fundraiser for the volunteer fire department...then I can stomach it for a good cause. I've had it at the MS location 1 time and it wasn't worth my drive across the river...never spent another "for profit" dime there...I'd rather go to Newberns.

Nope I'm right there with you, I prefer the McDonald's fish sandwich over anything at Swamp Johns.

Swamp Johns is ok with their fish but very lacking with portions..... the size of the filets are just too small for the prices charged... I am surprised that ppl keep on paying that price..... would rather order catfish from Tourway......

i don't know aboutthe new SJ, but if you use the drive-thru in MS you should always check what they give you before you drive away!

And the portions are too small for what they charge.

The best cat fish/chicken in NW Alabama is Underwood-Petersville Volunteer Fire Dept..it is twenty miles from where I live but really good quality food, well organized, plenty of seating...try it.

I think Killen stops East of Shoals Creek bridge, PJ extends 3 miles if I recall correctly.

I've written emails to Times Daily requesting a reply from them as to why this is being done. It's a case of censorship on an obscene level. I hope others, other than myself, will click the contact us tab on the Times Daily site and notifies the Times Daily of what is going on in the Food Forum as anymore it's a case of our freedom to comment as we will on restaurants in the area. If the moderator, of the forum, has an opinion that is against one of the people that post then they just delete the topic all together.

The fish fry that is also held monthly at the Colbert Church of Christ is really good. They have the best slaw ever. It is on River Road quite aways down....passed where you know used to be...

I agree with your post, I did takeout last week and I was not impressed, next time I want some great catfish fillets I will go to Lillybelle's in Elgin.

Was it just me or does swamp johns tarter sauce have mustard taste? it was nothing like I have had before.

There is a reason, a very valid one, that PM Post aren't on here anymore and it has nothing to do with their food quality or taste. There is a good reason but I'll just say that the request was actually made by the owner of PM and was due to many false post that were on here and PM would rather have no post than false ones.

They don't want everyone to know that they are serving liquor in Killen via BYOB form and have a 9 year old waitress. I'm also doubting they want people to know they were violated by the Health Department on their first day of operation and by the Killen Cops shortly there after. Reckon that had anything to do with it?
