Although I hate to see the state pay for this, on the other hand how many of you would B&M if a local song writer or musician was not paid their royalities if a comapny unlawfully used their music? Would it be cheaper for the state of Alabama to battle in out in court?  I think not.  They simply just circumvented a huge lawyer payday by going ahead and buying the rights to use it. "Smart move?"  that is certainly debateable.  I mean I never visited WV just becaue John Denver sang a song about it.

I wonder if Alabama paid royalities years ago for the right to use the words "Y'all Come" on their license plates. That was a song as well.
Protection of intellectual property is just as important as any other commodity, and if Alabama wants to use phrases penned by some artist, they should pay for it.
Won't make anybody come visit the state, but it is a cool line, penned by a group from Florida.
