yumm and dish are hands down my favorite two restaurants in the shoals. also love rosie's and for bar food you can't beat on the rocks. (esp working women's wednesday with free apps and $4.99 OTR burgers)

legend's has some of the best burgers in town and so does steak n stuff. (and staggs)

for fast food, i do like montagu's.

pizza chef for pizza, now that frank's is closed, ricatoni's will be my italian restaurant.

umi is one of my favorites that's not local.

Agree on Dish, I've dined there twice.  Never tried their lunch.  Eat at Sweet Basil frequently for lunch and enjoyed it.  Must try their evenings on Friday and Saturday.  Love Cajun's for their seafood -- usually go on Wed or Thurs, as Friday and Saturday are very busy.  Ate at Umi Saturday -- good hibachi.  For Sunday lunch, I guess it will be Claunch's

Kate, thank you.  I'll try it one evening soon.

We tried the Imagine That this Saturday. Good crowd and a mix of ages, although a majority were younger.  The Portobello mushroom stuffed with spinach and goat cheese is quite good.  Salmon  was accompanied with a Maple syrup based sauce, but not overly sweet. Good with the Riesling.  Choice of two veggies of four offered.  Like the broccoli, usually not a favorite of mine, and the asparagus with truffle oil.

I  know it's a great place to eat, but I just don't get an satisfaction out of spending $19 for a simple chicken dish.  We started to eat brunch there one Sunday, but found the menu rather undesirable for the prices charged.

There again, my wife and I recently spend $87 at George's Steak Pit.  The prime rib and rib eye were absolutely terrible in quality.  And we were stuck with 5 other tables in a tiny room when there were few diners in the big dining rooms.

George's is like dining in a funeral parlor. It is so boring and quiet in there.

Good call on the bar. I've known the bartender for years.

Is it still smoking in the bar area?

The last steaks I've had at Georges (other than the Chopped Steak) were not near as good as they were in the past.  Don't know what the change is but the quality of the steaks wasn't as good as I remember.   On the other side though the fired shrimp is some of the best in the area and still is one of the best things Georges offers.  They also have great Red Snapper and it's tough to find Red Snapper these days.

As for steaks, great Steaks, I still have to say, and don't mind repeating it, that Longhorn Steakhouse's "Outlaw Ribeye" is the bet tasting steak I've had in the area.  It's a bone in Ribeye and for the size the price is competitive but the taste is far superior, at least in my own opinion.
