I have enjoyed it the few times that I have been. Its nice to have another place in the area to get a muffaletta. They make it the Central Grocery (New Orleans) way... untoasted, which I believe is a first around here. I like them both ways, but I toast mine when I make them. The only problem is that they don't put quite enough olive salad on it, but that seems to be the case at most other places also.
The baked potatoes are really good, too. They seem to be two potatoes made into one. When I meet my wife for lunch there, that is usually what we get.
It seems a "little" pricey to me, but not too unreasonable. Muffalettas will cost you no matter where you go as the ingredients aren't cheap.
The first time I went there, they were very friendly. The waitress came by and told me her name and checked on me every few minutes. The last 2 times I have been there it has been a different story. First of all, I never get silverware and have to ask for it. When I ask for something, the person stays gone for about 5 or 10 minutes and then comes back and apologizes. Also, nobody checked on me to get a refill and I just had to sit there. Finally after giving an elderly lady that was wiping tables a dirty look, she sheepishly asked if I needed anything. Don't sit in the back near the restrooms or you will not get any good service. Also, I would think that paying over 10.00 for a meal would entitle you for some tea to go. These people act like you are out of line for asking for that. The food is good, but the service has been slack for the past few times. I won't be back for awhile. As for the tip, I don't tip at a place where I place my order at a counter. The food is overpriced anyway. At one time I thought this was a classy place, but now they are as rude as McDonalds and other fast food places.
Well, as luck would have it my post a few days ago came back to jinx me.

I went there this weekend and it was horrible. The staff seemed like it was a major inconvenience that they had to be there. Everyone seemed to be ticked off about something. The order was not filled as ordered and when asked to correct it they seemed to be irritated. The wait staff might as well not have been there...no service at all. Our waiter only came over right about time to leave..and time to leave a tip.

The others I was there with also noted these problems. Next time, we will probably meet somewhere else.
We usually buy one large sandwich and two drinks. We have the waitress to bring an extra plate. Ordering that way, it's still around 15 to 17 bucks. We don't go often because of price and our last few experiences, the cashiers have been a little bit unfriendly. Do love their cheddar melt though and usually leave a dollar or two tip.
my old roommate came to town, and HAD to go to peppers (not my choice). the food was good, but the server/attendant only came by twice. once as we first sat down, and once as we got up to leave. we had to get our own refills, and were ignored during the entire meal. thats the first time in a long time that I've not left a tip, and I don't see myself going back any time soon.
I have only eaten there once. I hated the potato salad, and the server was kind enough to bring me chips instead. Still, I ordered a roast beef sandwich and got ham, and I was not expecting to have to tip. Yes, if there's a server, you should really tip. It can be as little as ten percent for buffet style, or twenty or more percent for exceptional service. Most servers make only 2.13 or 2.15 an hour--the rest of their income comes strictly from tips.

All servers make at least the minimum wage. It's posted in almost every place of employment: if the tip average doesn't equal minimum wage, the employer is required to supply the difference. Obviously, no one is shouting about how wonderful the minimum wage is, but servers aren't the oppressed underbelly of the working world, either.

if she had done her job, I would have greatly tipped, as I always do. she spoke to us twice, and never lifted a finger to do anything else for us. if I wanted to pay someone to talk to me, they make 900 numbers for that.
It was great when they first came to this area. I ate there 2 or 3 times a week. Then began to notice a big turn over in staff. And then service went down hill. Couldn't get my order taken last week and 4 people where behind the counter but didn't want to run a register(they weren't filling orders because on one was in there). Then finally the one on the phone got through taking the order and took my order.
Shame, I liked that place.

This is true in theory. I put myself through college the second time by working at two steakhouses. At the first, if a server didn't record enough tips, the company made it up on his/her check under the heading "tip to minimum." We had new computer equipment installed that failed to properly record all our tips. We all soon found out that if we failed to report "enough" tips three times, we were called in the office and written up. Three write ups and our job was gone.
I personally like their food. Although, I've not eaten their recently.

One of my close relatives /was/ the lead prep chef there, but has just recently changed job titles as it was getting to be too much for him. That /might/ be the difference now of how the food is prepared.

I will let you all in on something. If the restaurant's staff isn't working hard or hardly working that means the bossman is out of town.

In the last 6 months he's went out of town back to MS two or three times, that I know of, and when he's gone a lot of the server's get lax.

I suggest if anyone else has that problem to call the manager/boss and let him know. Hopefully he'll be able to fix it. Smiler

As food goes though, I agree their prices are a little high on some things, but the food every time I've been was good. However, that's still when my relative did the main prep too.

I think it is the best thing in the shoals in a while. I eat there at least three times a week. The potato salad is the greatest and so is the service. I have had a few things on take outs wrong before. It want stop me from going though. Try a Reuben and Pot salad. Then go for the Turtle Cheesecake. It is very addictive.

So do I! Do you feel like you are not in Muscle Shoals when you are there? It has a very sophisticated big-city feel to it.
Just tried Sweet Peppers last night for the first time - WE LOVED IT. We got the order to go - so I didn't have experience with a wait staff, but the girl that took our order was friendly and helpful. The food was great. I got the Mediterranean Chicken and my friend got the Cheddar Melt on Tomato Bread, both were really good and so was the potato salad. The fruit as not so fresh, but OK. I will be back, but I don't go to MS often.

i never eat at restaurants we have in florence while out of town, so i looked around for something that looked good. i saw sweet peppers and saw that the parking lot was packed, so i thought i would give it a try. LOVED IT!
i saw on a sign that it was coming soon to muscle shoals and was all smiles.

i go to the muscle shoals store at least once or twice a week.
when they come to florence, i go more often.

i've had a lot of different things from the menu, but my favorite is the southwest chicken wrap.
