The Aussie flu (H3N2) is overwhelming medical facilities in the UK and Ireland. Its spread to the US. The recent vaccines do not include H3N2 immunity. The Daily Mirror predicted up to 740,000 deaths in the UK. I suspect that is over the top. However, I'd advise people look up the flu and its symptoms, wash hands often and boost your auto immune system, if possible.

Sounds like H3N2 could get quiet nasty in US. Rather than Flu shot, I prefer using Linus Pauling's old method. Vitamin C, 5000 mg initially when scratchy throat or beginning signs of sinus infection occur. Once symptoms clear up, back to 1000 mg. daily. Can't remember the last bad cold or flu I had since using Vit.C some 20 years ago. I did get Strep throat at one point & it was as nasty as the Hong Kong Flu in early 70s.
Knock on Wood....
Vit-C and Aspirin are my two miracle drugs.
I see in the TD both Shoals and Helen Keller hospitals are requesting no visitors because of the flu. Others, such as drivers for surgery patients are issued masks while they wait.

A while back I had the flu several times so I know I'm susceptible. However...
Over the past 30+ years, the US has been hit by many different strands of the virus, yet every year over that same period I took whatever vaccine was offered and never had a problem. Never got the flu because of the shot. Never got the flu because the 'house' vaccine didn't work. Getting inoculated works because I don't enjoy that kind of luck.
But maybe this virus will be different and if the shot doesn't take, then I will then look forward to trying a different brand of whiskey. I'm stocked up just in case. Call it "preventative medicine."

Glad to hear of the proactive measures being issued at local hospitals. I would rather be over cautious. Especially at Hospitals, Health Clinics, Dr. Offices.
Went to Grocery Store Mid Dec. Going down a aisle and saw a person sneeze, made a 180 degree with the buggy and ran into another person sneezing point blank. Went home started the Vit.C regiment. Week later got slight sinus infection but only lasted 3 days and it was gone.
Grocery store precaution- During this flu season, carry sanitizing wipes, to wipe off buggy grip & baby seat area. Virus can stay alive longer during this time of year.

Whiskey,Honey & Lemon... Granny called it Tonic !!
Speaking of Whiskey, I may have already mentioned this, but son-in-laws, one Christmas bought me 3 kinds of Honey Whiskey (Different Brands), so I conducted an informal "Blind Taste Test" to see which Brand tasted the most like Honey and overall preference. Several of us Tried all 3 brands and rinsed between each sample tasting.
Brands were:
#1. Jack Daniel Honey #2. Wild Turkey Honey #3 Evan Williams Honey
Sample Shots were labeled by Number by daughter so none of us knew what was what. Each of us rated on paper which;
A.)Tasted most like/Best Honey Flavor - 1st place-E.Williams Honey, 2nd W.Turkey Honey.
B.) Which was the preferred overall- 1st Place E.Williams honey,2nd W.Turkey H
Jack Daniel Honey was Dead Last... We all agreed J.D. Tasted like Maple and Not Honey... Strange but True, Put the Blind taste test to a Challenge. see what you think...Turned out to be a Fun Taste Test..
Cheers

You can bet on it. I need to re-organize my [medicine] cabinet.
Brits report that most of the chemists (pharmacists) are out of vaccine. Interesting that the City in London is one of the few places to report no incidences of the flu. The City is their Wall St -- haunt of the wealthy and bars.

Among my Christmas spirits, I received a bottle of Crown Royal Regal Apple. It's purty good and I guess an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

In their aforementioned liquid states & in a ratio favorable to your taste, combine honey, apple, plus cinnamon [fireball, hotdam, etc. ].
