There is a thread in the News section concerning an editorial on the supposedly harmful effects of farms on new subdivisions. Reading some of the replies has brought to mind a question I have long had concerning the TD editorials.

Do we really need a thumbs up on the issue of Eagle Scouts? Do we really need a thumbs down on the issue of sexual predators? I was not aware that these were actual issues open for debate. Does the Shoals area actually have three or four issues that need to be discussed each day?

Why not reserve these editorials for Sunday/Wednesday and use the extra space for more "You Said It" or columns written by TD readers?

Apparently this newspaper doesn't believe in getting many letters from its readers. It believes in printing all of the various commentaries by the columnists who writes for various other papers.

I understand when election time is taking place or an local tax issue is being consider some of the letters have probably gotten out of place in the pass.

Why can't this NEWSPAPER take about an half of the page opposite the editorial page on Sunday an set it aside for letters from its current readers.
I know from first hand personal experience the TD “Thumbs up/down” is nothing more than some wannabe’s wish to spread a rumor based on outright lies, and most definitely not subject to a retraction. No reporter ever so much as asked a single question much less conducted an interview to form the basis for this travesty of which I write.

Their “thumbs down” in my particular case had zero effect on our commitment to our community cause, the successful results thereof the TD chose not to report. But it stands today in silent testimony to the honorable efforts of those who persevered over the power of the politically correct press.

And no, CM, they are not publishing every printable letter. Even those you could read in church or to your children.
