In today's TD editorial page, an article entitled, "Refugees undergo thorough screening," had the following statements:

"Refugees also undergo a medical check, and they are rejected if they have a communicable disease. Refugees from Syria undergo an enhanced examination, both by the United Nations and by Homeland Security."

However, refugees have arrived with serious communicable diseases. Hundreds have tuberculosis, including 296 in Minnesota, alone.

If, so many are allowed in despite the supposed tight screening for diseases, perhaps, terrorists are arriving as well.

facts... not important to the rt. wingnuts... not when there's fear-mongering to do. up next, how the democrats blindly follow anything told to them by the 'liberal media'. (while spouting the latest rt. wingnut propaganda.)

the Minnesota Department of Health told Breitbart in a statement. It explained:

The majority of those refugees actually developed TB disease after being in Minnesota at least five years, and many had been in the US at least 10 years, so these are not new arrivals to the US. ... The presence of other medical conditions is the chief risk factor for the activation of TB disease in a person with latent infection. These conditions include diabetes, cancers, immune suppressing medications, and renal disease. These are conditions common with the American diet and lifestyle, and new risk factors for these refugee populations.

The second sentence doesn't agree with what was posted above.

"Two hundred and ninety-six refugees were diagnosed with active tuberculosis (TB) between 2010 and 2014 in Minnesota, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

Seventy-one were diagnosed within one year of their arrival, while 225 were diagnosed after the first year."

sorry, squirrel.... i'll take minnesota dept. of health over a rt. wingnut propaganda page, every single time. tell me again how liberals hate facts... while you spew the rt. wingnut propaganda, again. all the information is available online... at Minnesota dept. of health website.  don't let those pesky facts get in the way of a good fear-mongering.

whew... there you have it. rt. wingnut logic.... what amounts to the rt. wingnut versions of the national enquirer over the state website... tell me again how liberals hate facts... while you ignore facts.

you can't make this stuff up.

I'm sorry but I can't resist.  Somebody told Hillary, "You can't make this stuff up" and she said "BS".

Most refugees will not be on immune suppressing medications when they enter the U.S. Therefore, this would not be a pre-existing condition. Tuberculosis and Rubeola are two diseases that do affect many immigrants and eventually everyone who doesn't have immunity via vaccines or natural factors.

In other words, TB is serious, and the medical community views it so.

It takes about 9 to 11 months to complete treatment, if memory serves me.  For responsible people, they hospitalize for about a month. Then, let them go about their business, taking their meds, with regular checkups. For those not considered responsible, its months of quarantine, I believe.
