'Patriot Pastor' Televangelist’s Voucher-Funded School Employs Uncertified Teachers
Although Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D) has said he wants to eliminate the state’s troubled private-school voucher program, the Republican-controlled state House yesterday passed a budget maintaining the program, and the state Senate is apparently poised to do the same. The Columbus Dispatch reports on one parochial school that fails to meet the lowered requirements for private schools to receive state money: Harvest Preparatory Academy, operated by televangelist Rod Parsley’s World Harvest megachurch.

Private schools generally pay their teachers less than public schools and yes, they sometimes hire teachers that aren't certified but are definitely qualified.

Riddle me this: my college algebra professor was qualified to teach algebra to someone who was pursing a degree in education, but not "certified" to teach math to high school students. Hmmmm....
I have a B.S. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a Masters in Administration/Supervision. I formerly held Alabama certification, yet since I had no plans to teach in Alabama, I allowed it to lapse.

My Tennessee certification is VALID thru 2014, and I am listed as a 'Master Teacher' and am also 'Highly Qualified' per the 'NCLB' initiative.....YET ALABAMA WON'T ISSUE ME A TEACHING CERTIFICATE.

Alabama CLAIMS to want/need teachers. They've yet to PROVE that 'need'. In attempting to talk with individuals within Alabama's Dept. of Education, I've come to the conclusion that these IDIOTS are just that...IDIOTS. Roll Eyes
