Haven't been here all that long, but we can't believe the crowds at LOGAN's? Living near there we tried it, and was pleasently surprised that the food was outstanding, the service was reasonable, and the cost was as expected (mid to high range) I would recommend it also!

After this thread I'll pass on the Texas Road House!

Semper Fi,(carry on Citizen's!)
The first two times I went to TRH, I was impressed. The last two times I went ruined it, though. Both times the service was awful and they were out of Prime Rib once. The last (and final) time we went, we waited 15 minutes when they weren't busy for a server. No one ever came, so we flagged down the closest waitress. She said she would find our server for us. She never did and she took over our table.

We talked to the manager later and we found out that this girl was our server from the beginning and had lied to us! She would have gotten a much better tip if she was honest and tardy instead of a liar. Anyway, their food is ok, but their service has gotten increasingly worse. I guess that's what happens when you focus more on the line dancing than the customers.
TX Roadhouse has the best food you will eat anywhere. I've never eaten at the Shoals location.......but it is the bomb everywhere else.

The only argument I hear is that......IT'S TOO LOUD!

If you are over the age of 40, you may not like it. Personally, as a country music lover & a married father of two kids...........I sit back and enjoy the music and eat good food while my family is "drowned out"!
According to their websites, Logan's came first in 1991 in Lexington, KY. About an hour and half away in Clarksville, IN, the first Texas Roadhouse opened in 1993. I spent my high school years in the Clarksville area and I remember going to the flagship store when it first opened. Maybe I like it so much because of a comfort zone thing, too. According to logistics and time frame, it looks like TR may be copying Logan's. I still like TR better, though.
We tried Texas Roadhouse last night. I ordered an 8 oz filet. The waitress told me they were out of 8 oz filets, that I'd have to take a 6 oz. I agreed.

My daughter ordered a vegetable plate. They were out of almost everything. At first it was only one thing, then they kept coming back to the table telling her they were out of this and that. She wound up with two bowl of chili, mac and cheese and a baked potato. On her vegetable plate.

The only thing original on her order was the baked potato that she asked for without sour cream. The server argued with her telling her it was butter. It came loaded with sour cream, of course. The chili was good, she said. The mac and cheese was dry and had rock hard parts to it.

There was no point in ordering anything else because she chose the vege plate because they were already out of wht she wanted originally.

The servers were closing the dining section as we sat there and were hollering back and forth to each other who was going to drink the most beer the next night, and sweeping peanut hulls us hard enough that the coarse dust was settling on the table and everything else.

I know everyone has an off night, and I hope that this was just a series of unfortunate events rather than the norm. I'll go to Logan's next time.

Momsy, this is just an observation, but it sounds like you were in there at closing time. You said they were closing the dining section and sweeping up peanut shells. Closing is when restaurants normally run out of foods. It is sort of discourteous to enter an establishment at closing and prolong the process for everyone. Just my opinion, but that could be why you had the bad experience. My family and I have eaten there a few times and always had good food and decent service. The atmosphere is a little loud, but fun.
