the recent rapid decline in gas prices! We appreciate all you did to make that happen!"

The above encomium is what we should expect from those who, earlier in this year, were condemning the President for the rising cost of motor fuel.  If he was responsible for that situation, then is he not responsible for the converse of it?

Answer:  NO! As is recognized by persons of common sense and basic knowledge of international oil markets,  heads of non-OPEC states have little or nothing to do with the price of oil. But it is useful to point out the hypocrisy and inconsistency of those carping dingbats who readily blame the current president for high oil prices but are nowhere to be found crediting him for the declines.

I yam what I yam and that's all I yam--but it is enough!

I personally don't care why it's getting cheaper. Just that it is doing so. LOL

Although I do agree you can't just pin it down to one person or one action. There are many different factors that come into play. However, I do realize that we as humans need to have someone or something to blame. It's just in our nature I guess.

Oh Contenduh everyone knows that oil prices are controlled by **** Cheney and his friends at Halliburton. He's letting prices drop to lull Obama into a false sense of security then around September and October he'll drop the hammer and prices will shoot out of the roof. The man is a devious genius. I can see him now rubbing his hands together, evil grin on his face doing his best villain laugh Mu ha ha ha

RP,

It has little to do with production. The falling price of oil, which is dictated by the strength of the worldwide economy, not our own, is likely to surge upward again when the Syrian-Russian situation worsens. Right now, the economy in Europe is on a precipice.  Future trading in that market is similar to playing Russian roulette with the chmabers half full. If Greece, or Spain, or Italy, or any of the other current socialist havens is either pulled from the EU or thrown out there is likely to be a resulting crash. On top of this Chinese economic woes have lessened the demand for oil and gas and taken a strain from the market.  They would likely stay in this range IF the government could make speculation trading by short term investors illegal. Speculation buying should only be allowed by true consumers such as airlines, shipping, etc.  The only thing this is likely to do is to put more refinery workers and oil drillers out of work, similar to what Obama had done with all of his regulations.

Reminds me of a joke, and I'll butcher it, but it goes something like this: A man is awakened after being frozen for 30 years. The first thing he does is calls to check his bank account to see how much interest his savings have earned. The recorded voice tells him his small amount of savings have swelled to 20 million dollars  in just 30 years. He just can't believe it and is so excited until the recorded voice tells him his account will be charged 5 million dollars for using the information line.

Actually gas has averaged a total 55% increase from months after Obama took charge till today overall. I don't blame him like the jack_ _ _ _ blamed Bush who actually had a 55% lower 4 year average and liberals said he did it for his big oil cronies. I don't like the word hate, but with that said I do severely dislike people that put blame on one they dislike and make excuses for one they like that actually do worse.

Yeah.....we call those hypocrites. Amazingly however the left will argue that Obama has driven prices down.  However, despite his actions toward the oil industry they produce more American product today than any time in history, another reason which has caused prices to go down.  So, RP, you are correct, we are producing more, about 1 million barrells a day in excess, but there are many factors including the economy and speculation that drive this market.

And, as FDR's Secretary of the Treasury stated, it didn't help.

As Secretary of Treasury Morgenthau admitted to congress in May 9, 1939,

"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work."

"I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises."

"I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started. … And an enormous debt to boot!"
