THANKS FOR THE REBATE!!! Can I get a 52" screen??

BTW you are welcome, I sent in my quarterly estimate, and I am sure it was enough to buy you several televisions. Of course, I am more perplexed by someone who has gotten money, claims to have no insurance coverage, but is more interested in getting a big screen TV. You fit the mold nicely, you never dissapoint.

Getting a tax refund only means you overpaid and the government used your money without paying you interest on it. So I wouldn't brag about a refund, that's bad business. Plus it's most likely you had to pay someone to file so you could get your own money back. But hey, enjoy! LOL

By the way, there were no new tax breaks, Congress just let older tax breaks NOT expire. If you didn't receive a refund in prior years, it has nothing to do with the current Congress or the President, nothing changed, except added debt. But if it makes you feel good, worship on.

My fed taxes went up this month. Any body got a clue why?

I would guess he got more off the education tax credits. Being single, low paying job and going to college, that would have gave him a good refund.
Obama started a new one but there is also the Hope credit and the Lifetime learning credit.

Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), more parents and students will qualify over the next two years for a tax credit, the American Opportunity Credit, to pay for college expenses.

The American Opportunity Credit is not available on the 2008 returns taxpayers are filing during 2009. The new credit modifies the existing Hope Credit for tax years 2009 and 2010, making the Hope Credit available to a broader range of taxpayers, including many with higher incomes and those who owe no tax. It also adds required course materials to the list of qualifying expenses and allows the credit to be claimed for four post-secondary education years instead of two. Many of those eligible will qualify for the maximum annual credit of $2,500 per student.

The full credit is available to individuals whose modified adjusted gross income is $80,000 or less, or $160,000 or less for married couples filing a joint return. The credit is phased out for taxpayers with incomes above these levels. These income limits are higher than under the existing Hope and Lifetime Learning Credits.

Yeah, mine too. That's bad when you have a minimum pension and social security. Shameful.

Fed taxes probably slightly up because income is slightly up due to 2% drop in FICA tax, more taxable income, more tax. Your FICA tax was lowered so you get taxed on it, LOL.

Gubment checks are the best. Especially the ones from NASA, for a canceled program, which means 100% profit.

That would be a good explanation LE89, but I have a retirement check and don't pay FICA. I got a 1.1% raise (thanks Obama) which got me $24 dollars. But my tax went from $173 last month to $220 this month. So I lost $23 overall. Yahoo.

Yep, and IF "roxie" scored enough to purchase a 52inch television (approximately $1600.00), "roxie" can thank me personally for the extra check I had to write to the IRS for a similar amount. Redistribution is great when you're the redistributee, eh "roxie"? Enjoy!

Can you believe that the majority of the current up and coming generation is going to grow up thinking you are "supposed" to get back more than you pay in??????????

Anyone who's spent any time time around teens and young adults knows this to be true. They are in for a rude awakening.
