When I was a kid I looked in the kitchen cabinet and found a bar of chocolate. I was so excited! I broke off a square and quickly plopped it in mouth for a delicious treat. It about knocked me off my feet. UUUggghhhh!!!!!!! Baker's chocolate! There is alot of that same chocolate in the world and here in the forums. Sometimes it is just what it is, baker's chocolate, or someone that is just bitter. Other times it is what it should be, an ingredient to something much better , or a little bit of informational post waiting on more ingredients and a little mixing.

When I sit down with a tub of chocolate ice cream I don't think about the bitter chocolate.

If you look around or come to these forums and all you see is the bitter chocolate you're missing out. Either add your own little bit of sweetener or go get yourself a tub of chocolate ice cream. But please, don't bite into the baker's chocolate!

Internet forums is part of all our lives... we are here, aren't we? Is it our whole life? NO, but it is a nice place to be when one is bored and wants something to do...

Ten years ago, this wouldn't be possible.

But just like in REAL life, there is REAL people on the other side of that compter screen... with thoughts, with ideas, with feelings, with opinions and a lot of the time it is really nice to learn new slants on things.

But unfortunately, in the typewritten world, it is VERY often easy to misunderstand what people say. The lack of facial expressions, the lack of eye contact, the lack of not knowing ANYTHING about the person you are typing to is a detriment.

I know that "I" have a temper, and I sincerely do NOT like losing it... I have been ugly on some of my comments, sometimes though it is totally UN-intentionsl and sometimes it IS intentional.

I will lay the blame of my comments on myself... but I know me, and I know that I will let people "push my buttons" too much, then when I walk away from the computer, I realize that it isn't worth it...

I love people, I am a people person, and I enjoy seeing so many different diverse opinions of every subject one can think of... but I just dont like for people to flame me for what I think... and it isn't fair to do that, because no one is going to change my (OVER FIFTY YEARS) of life experiences/opinions... just as I am not going to change anyone else's.

Believe it or not, I am really working on that aspect of the "internet"... I have gotten into some bad conversations, and then all of a sudden made peace with that person, and it really makes me feel good to actually PM someone and come to a "mental understanding"...

drdemo35, you made one excellant post here, sure made ME stop and think of MY way of trying to "TYPE" (think) about what I convey.

Your mission is accomplished with me!!! I sincerely promise to do my best to comsume the chocolate ice cream instead of the Bakers Chocolate!!! Thank you!!!!

Actually, KS, we had a few pretty popular local "bulletin boards" (or BBSs as we called them at the time - bulletin board systems) running in the Shoals all the way back in 1992. That was 15 years ago, and they weren't very different than this forum.

The difference, though, is that the fastest of us were running on a 14.4 baud dial-up modem. If you read a comment that made you mad, you had to wait WAY longer than a "count to 10" before you could tell the person what you thought! You might guess that the wait would have cut down on quick responses, but I don't think it did. Instead, I think it just gave folks more time to think it through! Smiler

Cool... been out longer than I thought... but the first computer brought in my house was in 1997, by my son. He used it to study.... he also taught us all the "GOOD" places to go .... and the places to stay away from... Wonderful 'tutor' he was Smiler
This is a very good post. I do try very hard, even when disagreeing, to be respectful. I think we've all been there though, where we lose our cool.

I can only think of once that I really got angry on this forum, otherwise, I've just had mild annoyances. Smiler I don't reply here that much, because I like to most the time just read what people say. Smiler

I'm not much of a chocolate eater, but I'd take a Hershey bar over baker's chocolate any day, if can absolutely be avoided, at least. Big Grin
