Body: Everyone that was once associated with the BLVD, and especially those never paid, PLEASE come to the Colbert County Courthouse at 10 am on Friday January 26. THIS IS NOT A JOKE! Justice will be served at this event to the man who is solely responsible for allowing numerous workers, MANY WITH CHILDREN, to go UNPAID! In actuality, all are invited to this event as WE finally get back at the man who left many hard working people OUT TO DRY! REPOST...REPOST...REPOST....

LETS SHOW THIS MAN WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MESS WITH US.

Since you did that, I for one, will NOT show up

the blvd is the club located in the old sportsrock cafe , dreamland, and numerous other failed business ventures. several of my friends have worked since it opened and none of them have been paid.

Wow, that is just NOT right... I don't see how the owners could even have a defense!
Anybody familiar with Myspace, can definitely tell this came from a Bulletin posted there.
Hence, probably why the person posted and didn't reply back, as they were just spreading the word.

I've never been to the BLVD, although I have heard of it. And if it's really true that they havent been paying their employees, then I do hope that they are able to get compensation. Smiler I also hope that this forward, actually is true for those looking to be paid.

In my experience, bulletins have been fabricated often, and in this one, it would be sad for those to meet at the court house, just to find that there was no actual reason to be there, legally. Basically, I hope it's not a joke. Smiler

Businesses shouldn't be allowed, either way, to not pay their workers, so I hope those that weren't paid do find a way to get their money from the BLVD. It makes me mad to hear that some went without being paid. x(

Consulting a lawyer probably got em where they are now. For better, faster results they probably should have gone to Lowes and got em a 2x4. Wink

VERY true Manda... it is ILLEGAL to withhold wages, for ANY reason. Whoever owns/operates this establishment and didn't pay people is in trouble with the law, civilly and criminally.

Anyone got that MySpace URL handy???

Why would anyone work at a bar and then expect to get any respect about their wages. These are the sleaziest people in the area. and what is it with this location that makes it not profitable? I would invest in something at this location even with someone elses money.

I've heard about the BLVD, it was one of the top places to go at one time I believe. Sort of like Sports Rock back in the day. It's profitable if someone with enough business sense can run it. It seems like everyone who takes over is inept and their business goes under.

Yes, if you make a post you're suppost to set here and wait for a reply.

Working in a bar is not sleazy, it is honest work, and some people make really good money, being around a bunch of drunks isn't what "I" would want, but someone has to do it, and they do it to pay their bills just like.... um, say a welder would. It is a JOB.

I wouldn't WANT to have to work in a bar, but if anything happened to my job, and there was one available that paid well, then yep, I would do it. And there is NOTHING sleazy about me!

I do agree though about that location... it does seem 'snakebit' since SOOOOOO many businesses have opened, then after a little while closed.

Anyone remember how many different resturants and lounges have been at that location? I can remember 6 myself.
Let me preface this by saying that by no means am I describing most bar owners, and I do not know the particular situation at the BLVD.

That being said, I have seen many a bar go under because of poor management. Many times, the owners buy the bar thinking that it will be one big party, and that it's not real work. Everyone at your place to party, owner not paying enough attention to what's going on. Just enjoying the "thrill" of owning the place where everyone comes to party. You can operate like this for a few months, but eventually bills need to be paid. Often, the owners are already into drugs and drinking before they buy the bar, and then that gets out of hand because most of the times you can get drugs in a bar if you know where to look. Once that starts, it's all down hill from there.

They need to level the building and start from scratch. That place is cursed. It is probably built on an ancient Indian burial ground.

Here's the doomed businesses I can remember:
Fogcutter
Oceans and Praries
Dreamland
Campbells
The BLVD (soon to be doomed)

I know there is another, but it slips my mind.

I believe it was once a Chinese restaurant though I can't remember the name...and let's not forget Sports Rock...

Fiesta Mexicana
and a church in Sheffield had a restaurant there as well

Yes, the name of the restaurant the church owned was "Manna." I don't think it lasted for more than a few months at that location.

After Fogcutter it was a Catfish Cabin.
Also, during it's life as Sports Rock, for a short while an Italliann place ran the resturant for a short while.
Don't remember ever a Chinese place there.

Hmm... Fogcutter, Oceans and Praries, Catfish Cabin, Mexican Rest., Sports Rock, Dreamland BBQ Ribs, Nikki C's, Manna, BLVD, ... Wow, more than I remembered... but now that you guys brought the others up, I remember!!! That is NINE different things.... That place is snake bitten... I wouldn't want it if they GAVE it to me... lol

Except for the BLVD, I went to every one of these businesses, and they were ALL good... wonder just WHY this place can NEVER make a go of it, no matter what goes into the building?

GREAT location, large in size, seating capacity is great... everything "LOOKS" like it would be a fantastic place, but as history has shown... it is 'snake bit'... it died several deaths... wonder if anything CAN make it there...
