bluesman blues, I hate to rub dirt in anyone's face but the people that are complaining about high gas prices and vote republican or an oil man for president, I don't feel sorry for them one bit. They are getting what they deserve. It's going to get worse. The worst is yet to come. It's not just gas and oil. It's going to be labor, food, hauling, farming, vacationing, it's going to affect our lives in every way imaginable. When gas goes up, EVERYTHING will go up too. This will have more effect on those people that don't make $200,000 to $250,000 per year and these are your true republicans.

It will take a grassroots effort to lower the gas prices, meaning don't wait around for the teamsters to strike because it ain't going to happen. The reason the independent truckers can't afford to strike is they will only lose their loads to the big corporation truckers. So, the independent truckers will not take that chance. They need their bread and butter too.

The grassroots efforts will be people like you and I, trying to educate people somehow to get off the road unless they are going to work, school, or your necessary trips only. It will take a lot of people to make the cutbacks for the oil companies to feel the affect at the pumps. Some people are cutting back by force. Any time you want change from government and corporations, it takes the American people to wake up and speak for change. Otherwise, you can just keep buying it. If you were trading with me at my grocery store and I started easing up the prices on you, you might take it for a while without saying anything because you like shopping with me but sooner or later you are going to decide you are not going to pay those outrageous prices when you can go to the store next door and get it cheaper. The only problem, we cannot get gas any cheaper from anywhere else. So, when the people start conserving and cut out all the joy riding, then we might be able to make the oil companies feel it at the pump. One thing that people have not realized is that corporations rule government and the government is "we the people" and we the people need to take government back from the corporations. I will finish with this note. If Bush was running for president, would you give him four more years? If your answer is "no", you better wake up and not vote for McCain.
Lots of complainers about the price of gas these days, but you don't see any of these complainers offering to "fix" the situation by driving less which saves gas, increases the surplus, and lowers the price. Americans are addicted to their automobiles. They build $300,000 homes and basically live in their car. They are bored at home with their $1000 HD TV's and $1500 computers. They'd rather be on the road, mingling with the crowd, burning gasoline, causing traffic congestion. They make multiple trips each week to the grocery store, Walmart, the mall when all this can be done in one trip each week. Instead of complaining about the price of gas eating into your "go habit", stay at home more.
