Inferno (Dante)
Dante's Divine Comedy
Inferno · Purgatorio · Paradiso

Inferno (Italian for "Hell") is the first part of Dante Alighieri's fourteenth-century epic poem Divine Comedy. It is followed by Purgatorio and Paradiso. It is an allegory telling of the journey of Dante through what is largely the medieval concept of Hell, guided by the Roman poet Virgil. In the poem, Hell is depicted as nine circles of suffering located within the Earth. Allegorically, the Divine Comedy represents the journey of the soul towards God, with the Inferno describing the recognition and rejection of sin

b,

This was written at least 1100 years before Dante: Matthew 25:41 says Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire.

Dante used a livid imagination to detail a fictional Hell, agreed. But he didn't make it up.
Isaiah 35:8-10 has as much to do with Purgatory as it has to do with the so-called "tribulation" (as conceived by B.G. and the Triburapturist fantasists)--NOTHING!.

Bill Gray--I got yer Pastor Chuck Smith/Calvary Temple right heah! The man is a flaming false prophet. Per Wickipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvary_Chapel:

"Return of Christ in 1981
During the late 1970s and early 1980s, Chuck Smith wrote and published a prophetic timeline that predicted the Rapture would occur in 1981.[26][27] The reasoning had to do with the idea that the 7-year Tribulation would end in 1988, forty years after the establishment of the state of Israel. In his 1978 book, Chuck reasoned that Haley's Comet in 1986 would result in problems for those left behind: "The Lord said that towards the end of the Tribulation period the sun would scorch men who dwell upon the face of the earth (Rev. 16). The year 1986 would fit just about right! We’re getting close to the Tribulation and the return of Christ in glory. All the pieces of the puzzle are coming together.

Disappointment resulting from the prophecy not materializing in 1981 caused some to leave the church."

But not Bill Gray, who steadfastly endorses this particular false prophet. And Chuck Smith decidedly IS a false prophet--by Biblical definition. Here is how your Bible tells you to identify a false prophet, Bill. Apply this to the failed prophesies of Pastor Chuck Smith, Bill, and the only conclusion is that he is a false prophet!

Deuteronomy 18: 19 & 20:

18I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

19And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

20But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.

21And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
22When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Pastor Chuck indeed has spoken presumptuously and has clearly--by the Biblical criteria I have cited above--shown himself to be a FALSE PROPHET! His end time prophecies are about as dependable as the embarrassingly failed prophecies handed down by the leaders of the Jehovah's Witnesses cult!

It is time for you to leave Pastor Chuck and Calvary Temple, Bill. True Christians will not knowingly ally themselves with those proven to be FALSE PROPHETS!!!

beternU, you have really pissed in Bill's cheerios.

Hi Chick,

When I grew up in Alabama, we did not eat our cereal that way. Is that a new trend YOU have started? Not too appealing to me -- but, hey, you do your thing, gal! To each his own!

Y'all come back now, ya heah?

Well, Chick,

I have made it this far through life without ever hearing those wonderful words of wisdom. And, no one can say I have lived a sheltered life. Therefore, I have to assume this practice is limited to you and your associates.

But, hey, whatever turns your wheels!

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Gee, Deep,

Does this mean that you will not drive down and go to church with me? I was so hoping to have you join us in worship and fellowship. Our church is not that far from West Hollywood.

Just keep in mind -- the offer is always open.

Who knows -- you may walk in atheist -- and walk out transformed, a new Christian being. Wouldn't that be neat?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

After you have spent all this time calling him names and condemning him to hell, I doubt he feels welcome.
I wouldn't.

Hi B,

Calling Deep an atheist is not a bad name to him. He cherishes the name and the calling.

But, he would not be the first atheist to eventually becomes a Christian believer. So, as long as he is breathing -- there is always hope.

However, speaking of churches -- you say you would not feel welcomed in the church I attend. Do you feel welcome in ANY church?

Or, is the Religion Forum just a way to vent your pent up "contention" bug? What is that old saying: "She is so contentious -- she even gets excited arguing with her mirror!"

Yep! I do believe that describes you perfectly.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

If the rest of the congregation of your church takes the same attitude toward people that you show just in this post, I doubt anyone would feel welcome.

I'm sure B G's church would show love and kindness. They may even pat you on the back. Looking for the place to put the knife.

I would not feel welcome attending any church you were part of since they would have to have the same tainted views on religion that you do.

Well, B50,

We are both safe -- for you will NEVER find me in a New Age church, nor a Wiccan church, nor a Universalist Unitarian church -- and, except for a wedding or funeral, you will not find me in a Roman Catholic church.

So, since we are not sure if or where you attend church -- I think we both are safe.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Hi Buffalo,

Actually, our discussion is not between denominations. It is between world religions, i.e., New Age, Wiccan, etc. -- and Christianity.

I proudly declare myself to be a Christian -- a Christ Follower.

Those who declare themselves to be New Age or Wiccan -- cannot say that. At least, they cannot honestly say it.

Buffalo,

I will not be on the tines of any pitchfork. I, along with us all, will be in that place we were before we were born. That place that inconvenienced us not in the slightest.

Life is a gift from Nature. We enjoy it, and then we are gone. Enjoy it.

Actually he is referring to me, Gifted. I made a post a while back and as a joke I said I was New Age/ Christian/ Wiccan just to see his reaction. I played along for about a week then told him three times I made it up to test his tolerance. Well, he failed the tolerance test and now he refuses to let it go. I should have said I was a Druid/Muslim/Moonie and watch that one unfold. Big Grin

I have train whistles blowing regularly as I am near tracks. No 'messy draws' yet.

CRUSTY, IT'S BEEN SO LONG SINCE YOU HAVE BEEN IN CHURCH - THEY WOULD PROBABLY ARREST YOU FOR TRESPASSING!

Probably, or worse yet turn me out because I don't match their demographics. I'm not self-righteous enough, condescending enough, judgmental enough, or hypocritical enough to attend your church.

Thanks, I'll pass. I'll find the love of God within my own heart. No bureaucracy needed.

Hi Crusty,

You left out one: NOT SPIRITUAL ENOUGH!

And, be careful what you find by yourself in your own heart.

Jeremiah 17:9, "The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?"

Mark 7:21, "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts,. . ."

Maybe you should reconsider getting involved in a Christian fellowship; then, you will not have to depend only upon your own heart.

And, not to worry, when you feel that all churches are full of hypocrites. They can always make room for one more. So, why not give one a try?

Do it now, before six strong men have to carry you into a church.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

But I did include not self-righteous enough, which is what this post proves.

Now that I understand you are of the half Calvin/half Arminian persuasion, it makes perfect sense that you are so confused about everything. Who was it that said, "So, do you understand now? It is not the church! It is what is in your heart. If Jesus is in your heart -- eternal salvation. If Jesus is not in your heart -- eternal hell"?

Get right with God, Bill. Your time is running out.
