10 minutes away is convenient.
A timesaver i used when moving was to not take contents out of drawers and pack them in boxes. Just take the drawers out of the dresser, etc. and use the drawer itself as the box. Put a towel on top and kinda tuck it around the contents to keep them contained. Aren't boxes sometimes hard to find since stores break them down now?

Nope, we have an Aunt with tons and tons of kids and grand and great grand kids, we take anything that is not junk to her and all of them have a field day. What they do not want, she takes to her Church. That is nice of her don't you think?

allysmom, is it nice to have a new start?

New start yes, going to be out in the boonies more than we are now, new house pmt. scares the H*** out of me,lol. Anybody else build a new house and their house pmt. is going to be about 4 times what they are paying for their current place?
That new house pmt. is very scary, where we live now is 17 yrs. old and is almost paid for, but we wanted to live on some land we have owned that has been in the family for years. We are having to borrow extra money to finish, we could not build it for what the bank man said we could, anyone else had that problem?

allysmom, I do a lot of work on new homes, and I have not yet seen where one did not go over budget and not have to borrow more money to finish their home. Did you sell your old house ?

I am glad it is not just us, we had no idea that this went on all the time. We are selling our house and land to our son who is getting married next month. We were just going to give it to him, but he is going to have to buy it now, but at a great discount. Hopefully it will keep us from having to go to the bank and get more money. Our banker told us that if we needed more money to finish it would be no problem, they probably knew up front that we would have to borrow more money. Do you think the banks do this to everybody?
Yep, I worked for about 1 1/2 yrs. for a big retailer (not wal-mart), I went to work there after my youngest started school and I did not want to stay home all day, Ended up getting really burned out, mostly from the customers....Did you know that they can really be big pains in the ass I mean butt?
My 2yr.old grandson had taken some of the stickers that my husband puts on the trucks after he services them,I said;Did grampa say you could play with his stuff? He comes out with;Paw-paw didn't say No.Don't ya'll think he's going to be gramma's revenge on his daddy, for all the hardtimes he has given me?

I had a brand new grandaughter born yesterday.
I never knew how much fun grandchildren are. I have a 3 year old who is my "best friend", her words. We cook, color, go to the flea market all while painted in multicolored nail polish with henna tattoes (is that spelled right?) and lots of hair bows. And all dressed in baby pink, "hot pink" is not "her" pink.

She loves to "fix mimi up". I know I look deranged. But to her we are "twins". So I don't care. And the best thing about grandchildren, the best after watching the daughter who put you through 7 years of teenager hell, is knowing that when the granddaughter is 13 and her mom is too dorky for word, I will still be "The Queen Mimi" to her "Princess Lainey".

and i have thought of the foster grandma thing....maybe someday?
A glimpse into my evening and weekend world:
My son is obsessed with the alphabet and spends 99% his at home time sitting in the living room floor with his ABC puzzles, phonic boards and favorite ABC book. Sometimes he plays/works on his own, but mostly he expects me to call out each letter (verbally or with sign) at random then he, according to which toy it is, picks it up, writes it or traces it with his finger, then lets me know when he's ready for the next one.
Sooooo, i spend most of my time reading, sewing, writing, working out, computing, etc. Anything that keeps me close by most of the time.
If i go to another room he still lets me know he's ready for the next letter and i yell one back at him. Sometimes, if i tell him i'm busy , he'll work alone for a few minutes.
More answer than you expected? but it explains why i live vicariously through others...lol

what are you doing today?
Yep. Well, it's really a Tupperware bowl inside a wooden breadbox that i put a small hasp and lock on.
Ever seen a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer with a padlock?

My son certainly doesn't go hungry, but he also doesn't know what moderation means. It's tied into the autism.
And having to ask (sign, sound or picture) for a snack or drink is good for his communication skills.
Accually I was commenting on PUF's post "do decks shrink when they get wet?" My decks, fences are all swollen tight together from all the rain lately. Cant shut one of my gates because it is so swollen. So accually I answered wrong to a later question from PUF, "is the answer to your question yes?" I should have answered no. Sorry for all the confusion I have caused.I have brain farts all too often lol
