The cops there are even now writing tickets in Barton also.

LOL. I've spent my life driving through speed traps for a living and I've learned a foolproof way to beat them *every/single/time*
Seriously. The police officer points his radar gun *directly* at me and doesn't even flinch. The stealth factor is just un-freaking-believeable!
Ya wanna know how I get away with sailing through those speed traps scot-free?
It's a simple trick, really-that most people usually don't even consider, but it's extremely effective in keeping you from getting ticketed in speed enforcement areas..
Here's the trick:
DON'T GO FASTER THAN THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT.
Works like a charm. I've * never * gotten a speeding ticket.
You're welcome.
I agree, Road Puppy. People who speed are asking for a ticket. They know the possibility exists yet they speed anyhow. I have more common sense than money so I observe the speed limit at all times. I nearly get blown off the road by speed demons and marvel at their nerve. So many times, I am passed and left rocking in their wake only to pull up behind them at the next traffic light. There have also been some times when I come upon them down the interstate having been pulled over by that pretty blue light. I just don't see that it is worth risking your life and others just to get their a few minutes early.
Road Pup, that is sage advice. The speed limit thru Barton and Cherokee is 65; if you are doing 70 or more; you are asking for a ticket. It could be county, state, or city of Cherokee.
Hmm, I think I am going to try that sometime.

Roadpuppy, I'll have to give you this one, if you do not want a ticket do the speed limit. People are going to Tunica and are in a hurry for their money is burning a hole in their pockets. Now Roadpuppy, how does it feel..
Cherokee was a speed trap back before the 4-lane bypassed the town. When the bypass was built, they tried that crap and were told by the state they could not run a speed trap out on the 4 lane, so they quit. I'm sorry to see they are at it again.
As long as the road runs through their city they can enforce traffic laws.
And Cool....did they clock you in Cherokee and get you stopped in Barton? If that's the case they can do that.
Well, what I mean by a speed trap is where the speed drops for no reason, and the cops hang out there. As far as I can remember, the speed limit thru Cherokee on the 4 lane is all 65MPH, so it technically is not a speed trap.
The Highway Patrol, a couple of years ago, did hang out a lot between the Trace and Big Bear Creek and gave a lot of tickets there, but again, the speed did not change.
LOL, I once got a ticket for running a stop sign in Columbus, Ms that was behind a cedar tree, and you couldn't see it , even knowing it was there. When I mentioned that to the cop, he laughed and said "why do you think we hang out here?"
If its in Cherokee, the town can't agree whether to have a speed trap or not to have one
Courtland's a speed trap too. So was Littleville until the mayor closed down the Police Dept.
Considering all that's gone on in Cherokee, i'm surprised the nation hasn't sued the city to take back their name.
The only way it could be a speed trap is if the speed limit is not posted. And yes the speed limit is 65 on the four lane through Cherokee. Maybe they will make enough money to shut down the pill dealers down there.
