The Democrats in Congress passed a funding bill with a withdrawal schedule. The President vetoed it. Everyone expected the Democrats to fold, to go back and pass a bill without any timetable. But, they didn't today negotiations between the White House and the Democrats are in negotiations.
Everybody is anticipating a new bill without time lines. Not if Pelosi wins. There will be a compromise. Bush may get his way, or perhaps the "pork" will be the bargaining chip. One or the other will be in the bill.

The Democrats will get reconstruction in New Orleans, or they will get the timetable. One will be put off, the other passed now. The one that gets put off will come up again and again. WE ARE GOING TO GET OUT OF IRAQ. EVEN BUSH KNOWS THAT. We will get out under his watch, and save some Republican power in the government, or we will get out in the next Administration with a Democrat Majority, larger than it is today in the House and Senate.
Politically Bush MUST accept the timetable. Philosophically he may oppose it, but It is going to be accepted, now, or in the future.

I call my self an analyst, but others say I'm a cynical critic. My response is always, "How can you be the one without being the other?". A friend, and true friend indeed, once gave the the combined form.

He said, and accurately, that I analyzed everything, and, inaccurately, enjoyed nothing. I enjoy analyzing, that's something, I have a grand time all the time, analyzing things into molecular pieces, I blast into a proposition, split it into component parts, and then take a laser scalpel to the pieces until sometimes what remains is only phonemes strung out on the tapestry. There is a test of skill remaining. Once broken down to component parts, putting the picture back together is a challenge. Sometimes the picture comes back from the process changed beyond recognition.

That is what has happened When Bush became President. The watch works got replaced. The flag was still the same, the constitution was replaced with a series of Executive Orders.

What happens in 2008 remains to be seen but we'll be ready. The worst enemy of a Democrat is itself.

Phoenix,
Has Rush so polluted your mind that you have reduced Democrats to an inanimate object?
Get a grip fellow, Democrats are people, not an "it".
For the first time in six years Bush is meeting with Democrats to negotiate not dictate. That in and of itself is progress.

Bush is no longer dominant, he is now fighting to remain relevant.

We are going to start withdrawing from Iraq sooner or later. If Bush doesn't do it, a Democrat in the White House will. Bush has only one choice, he has to strengthen the Iraqi Government he has in place. He has to give them total independence. WE HAVE NOW OFFICIALLY LOST THE OBJECTIVE. We are not going to win an ally in Iraq. We will be fortunate to avoid having a permanent enemy.

Just look at what the slime balls did to Max Cleland in Ga.
excelman, Someday, when I have a lot of time on my hands I will explain how the corporations provide all, and I mean all, the money that pays for ALL the television you watch, except the stuff on PBS, and PBS gets its money from Congress.

The short answer is Coca Cola Ads. The long answer includes things that are easy, Ceneral Motors Acceptance Corporation, one of the nation's largest mortgage lenders. Geico Insurance, owned by a corporation that also is involved in a few dozen other businesses, and "What's In your Wallet?"

The rest of the answer is Republicans support the people who pay for advertising. Democrats support the people who suffer through them during the 21 minutes of news during the 30 minutes politicians get to Bash Bush. Or, on your local news show the roughly 6 minutes.

There is one other factor, Democrats also ask for campaign money from those same corporations.

Do you have another question?

It is about time that SOMEONE reminded Bush and Cheney that they are PUBLIC SERVANTS, they are not God, they are not KINGS, they have LAWS to follow that they have SO conveniently ignored for so very long.... They need to be brought down a few pegs, and no one can argue with that, Bush himself is so arrogant that he has sat in front of National Television and SAID he would do what he WANTED, when he WANTED and didnt care what even judges said.... nice president huh?

I am really hoping someone FINALLY gets through to the guy what a PRESIDENT is... he has NO CLUE.
