I've supported the mods for TD when no one else did, but what this place has become has nothing to do with intelligent discussion. Even if you are short handed and short on time, you can ban the IP addresses of repeat offenders. Attacking other forum members and their character is a regular pastime now.

You know, you own it and are free to moderate or not moderate however you see fit, but I no longer enjoy coming here and I am certain I'm far from the only one.

Joy, your post gets my vote for post of the year. You're absolutely right. Bad thing is, it will continue to be this way as long as they (TD moderators) dont enforce their own rules. While it is tough to not allow multiple names,..... because some families do actually have more than one poster, it is fairly obvious who abuses the forum with multiple names. That is why those people arent on any of the other local forums. Because they know it wont be tolerated there.
EH, I'm sure you're busy with the transition right now, but...

In the past Monet and her crowd of two have called many of the women on here prostitutes. I suppose that was the most brilliant accusation their limited intellect could come up with. They have called two women on here witches, even drawing cartoons of them.

Tonight I sign on and see that Simera12, that new age priestess of whatever, has implied a lady on the forum who possesses a master's degree "earned" it by plying her feminine wiles, shall we say.

This topic was locked, but the post was not deleted. The sad part is that no matter how idiotic such accusations are, there are always some people who will believe them.

I don't know what it will take to censor this forum. I realize you don't have the time or manpower at present. I have never had the slightest inclination to sue anyone, but I'm sure that can't be said for everyone. I know many women who have husbands who are rich and powerful enough to sue over such hogwash. The TD doesn't need that right now, not when heads are already rolling.

If we on the forum know the names of two of these ethically challenged posters, I'm sure you do also. I am respectfully asking that you at least make clear to them that such accusations will not be tolerated on this forum.

You need to look again, that wasn't me. Sorry.
You are correct; it was Cerridwyn.

EH, if you ban legitimate posters for using slang expressions for certain races (and there is no way that I condone that), you should certainly ban those who call business owners, clerks, nurses, writers, etc., prostitutes because they have actually worked hard enough to earn a little money or fame or whatever it is the offending poster has not.

New Singles Meet @ Greet, top of page 8 or 9, not sure "Puf"

one definition for "professional" is someone that takes money for what they do....so it stands to reason that a professional single gets paid for it.

What Joy Said...
Just my opinion & if I tick people off, guess what? I know the feeling. It's how I feel whenever I'd like to have a conversation here & cannot due to the zoo it has become.

If a whole family has to pay for the behavior of one when an IP address is banned, tough. That is what should be done. It might really get their attention if their mom and dad (or any other family member) start asking questions.

Since we have many members involved in this, you could ban the whole bunch for a couple of weeks & see if they come back with a new outlook. Seriously, when I'm away from this place for a while, it's amazing how much less important forum drama becomes. Then if the slap on the wrist doesn't work for some, ban their IP addresses.

I understand that each member is responsible for their own actions. It would be lovely if we could blame everything we say and do on someone else, but unless someone is physically holding a gun to your head, there is no truth in that excuse. I understand my own part in it and apologize for that. It will not happen again.

However, I do feel that TD mods are equally responsible for letting it get to the stage that is has. If you would have banned the IP addresses of the originators of this fiasco, TD Forums would not be the zoo it has become.

Again, I agree. When I read back over some of this crap, I find that there are many others who continue to stir the pot. Some are people who I call my Friends. Really, just take a step back and take a look. Everybody is not 'Monet'. I honestly hope we can all just step back and get a gripe. I like us better the way we used to be.

I totally agree with you. I remember thinking about suing for liable awhile back, because of a poster spreading hellaciously stupid lies about me, publicly on here. I could have, too. But then thought that would only amount in the pleasure of the person doing it, thinking they got the best of me by me reacting like that.

However, it definitely crossed my mind. Smiler

If it crossed my mind, I'm sure others have thought about it, and who knows, may in the future sue.

I feel so bad that the person you are talking about, FV, has had to go through all this. It seems silly and childish, and actually a bit preventable with the right moderation. I know this, as an admin on another place much bigger than this one, it /IS/ avoidable and preventable. Why there hasn't even been filters put in to help by now, I have no idea.

Joy, sweetheart, I definitely agree with you. That's one reason why I've stopped coming around here as much as I used to. The other reason is because my husband has joined the military and goes to Basic in a few months- so spending as much time with him as possible. This place did get /very/ mean there for awhile, and in the week or two that I've been dipping my toe back into reading here- I see that some of that hasn't changed.

Here's to hoping that something is done to help this forum. Smiler *crosses fingers*

Definitely agree. Be sure you print those offensive posts so you can give them to your attorney.
while we talk about things that we find disruptive in the TDF, may i suggest a little time in POLITICS! can some people stop the name calling! i am so tired of the defacrat, repugnacan, obumma........ you get the pic. if we have NO NAME CALLING listed in the TOS then it should apply to ALL! i have forsaken politics because of this! just tired of hearing it!!! it is worse than any section on this forum! Mad
I wouldn't say it's the worst, but other than that, I wholeheartedly agree, TBG.

Then in Religion, we've got the Christian evangelists versus the Atheist evangelists, rather than a mature discussion of various religions or just religious subjects in the news.

Once the games were on in every other forum, that pretty much completed the zoo.

Nah, it would be too much trouble to do that, besides a good bit of the worse of it was deleted, if I remember correctly. Also, I think that person doesn't really come around here anymore and if they do, I'll just ignore them.

I got myself wrapped into it all, thinking it was more important than it really truly was. Smiler Once I stopped reading/replying here so much, I realized how silly it was to even let it get to me at all. Big Grin

I'll be the first to admit that I haven't been a perfect shining example on here all the time. I don't think I have ever been cruel or really mean in any of my replies, but if I have been, and hurt someone with my replies, then I do sincerely apologize right now for it. Smiler

I'm the same online as I am off. Except for when I make a smart donkey type of comment, it's usually perceived better offline, as it's Obvious that it's a joke. hehe Big Grin

Hope each of you are doing well. Big Grin

I definitely agree with you TBG. I can't even read politics much anymore, because of that, and because of how heated some people get over things. Same with religion topics, for me- because they are passionate topics, people get so mad/upset/whatever, that the discussion turns into debate into much more, and it's just hard to read at that point in order to follow the thread. I mostly avoid those two categories, now.

And I keep beating my head against that wall trying to make them see that we can all enjoy each others beliefs if it's not about attacks and it's wearing me down...I love some of the people here too much to leave but it becomes such a chore to weed through the bad stuff to get to the good sometimes and the MODS don't seem to care at all...
Thank you Just. Big Grin I had to look over your name, thought you might have been a troll, at first. You shortened your name. hehe Big Grin

Even if the crazy stuff here doesn't go away, I can always go elsewhere. Big Grin Wink

I'm so nervous about him leaving for basic. I'm going to miss him so much. I'm sure I'll be a mess for a while without my soul mate being with me, but it's something he's always wanted to do, and I could not hold him back. I'm so proud of him, and scared at the same time. Needless to say, when it comes to thinking about it all, I'm a bundle of emotions. Smiler

*hugs to you hun*

Manda, You could seriously be reading a a script of my life just a few years ago. I said these exact same words when Geddon joined. I loved Geddon so much it never entered my mind to be anything but supportive of his decision to join the military. Like you I'm so proud of the man he has become. You'll be amazed once he he's home how much maturity your marriage will have gained from being apart so long. Please feel free to call me or PM if you EVER have a question or just need to talk.

They do indeed, but the black hole seems to be growing. I tried a few simple one liners on tolerance that were ignored. I don't know why we can't follow, "live and let live".

Manda, prays for hubby. Storm, prays for Ged too and all the military families.

Thank you so much Storm. I might, or should I say, probably will take you up on all that. Any advice you have will definitely be appreciated and used. Big Grin I know I'll need someone to vent to, and you having already been in those shoes, I'm sure you could help tons.

I do look forward to him getting through Basic and AIT. Not just to see how much different he is, but for him to feel proud of himself, for doing something so great. Smiler I just wish his mother were still here to see how he has grown. She died when he was young, but I know she'd be so proud of him. Smiler

Anyway, I ramble on a lot, expect Pm's from me- maybe not /all/ about that though. hehe Big Grin

*hugs*
