So, in an effort to help those who suffer from the delusion that they pay too much in taxes or that all of their taxes are wasted, we thought we'd create a list that FOR these whining babies, we mean, our Republican friends.

If you don't like paying taxes . . .

- Don't drive on paved streets or highways.

- Don't call 911.

- Don't flush your toilet.

- Don't bring your garbage to the curb.

- Don't fly in an airplane that uses air-traffic controllers.

- Don't use the court system.

- Don't call the police when you get robbed.

- Don't use the US Post Office, send all your letters via FedEx or UPS.

- Don't ask for a farm subsidy for not growing crops.

- Don't ask for a taxpayer subsidy to do business in a city or state.

- Don't buy a sports franchise and ask the taxpayers to build your stadium.

- Don't send your children to public schools.

- Don't attend a state university.

- Don't expect a social security payment.

- Don't let Medicare pay your bills if you are over 65 or disabled.

- Don't look for a government contract to bolster your defense industry business.

- Don't look for a government.

- Don't look for a lucrative government consultant contract.

- Don't run for political office where your salary is paid for by the taxpayers.

- Don't accept government research findings that subsidize research for your industry.

- Don't be an airline and expect the government to bail you out.

- Don't be a car company and expect the government to bail you out.

- Don't be a steel company and expect the government to bail you out.

- Don't be a company that pollutes and expect the taxpayer to bail you out.

- Don't climb to the top of the Washington Monument, which is maintained at taxpayer expense.

- Don't make use of police services.

- Don't be rescued by fire department paramedic team.

Don' look for ways to cheat on your taxes as Nixon did.

For 'our friends', the Democrats:

- DON'T think that 'throwing OUR $$$' at 'social problems', via 'socials services' is THE answer to ANYthing. It isn't. Thanks to 'you', we now have 4th-generation welfare recipients, who have GROWN UP...though, not necessarily matured...under 'welfare'. SSI was NEVER intended to 'take the place of ' working at a job, but our 'friends' (you know who you are) have made it SO tempting that MANY on SSI 'see no reason' to pursue 'work'. Why should they? Mad

FWIW, when my wife was laid off from her state job as an Intensive Juvenile Probation Officer, she was DENIED any sort of 'socal benefits', citing the $$$ we had set aside for our daughters' college educations as 'income'. This was what she 'got' for working her *** (I'll save the TD the trouble of editing) off since she was 15, paying her own way through college and 'contributing' to 'the system'? Roll Eyes

I have ZERO problems with 'paying taxes' to SECURE our borders, PROVIDE for the U.S. Mail and pay our MILITARY. Beyond THAT, I have LOTS of 'problems' with our tax 'system' in its current incarnation.

Very few cities make ANY money off of sewage, trash pickup or water sales. Florence just quoted a sewage rate to Killen that is two times higher than the current rate paid by Florence....because they are losing money at the rate paid by Florence residents.

And it was inferred that if you want to send a letter, don't use a Government backed institution like the Post Office....use a commercially owned one like UPS or Fed Ex.

I don't usually agree with PBA, but on this issue, you jumped the gun and are wrong.

What is a bigger crime to PBA being rich or being a member of Al Qaeda?

Do be a crack addict
Do file bankruptcy right after buying yourself a Hummer
Do have more kids to increase your income.
Do get to know the local welfare office and how to get the most money out of them.
Do sign up for free housing
Do complain about how much money the rich make while you can't get a dollar.
Do run for office and promise to work 5 days a week and then not show up

Whoa, PBA... for most of what you just listed we PAY for that too, in addition to taxes.

I don't seem to mind so much when the government helps a person or company that is at least trying to make a profit, employing hundreds or thousands of people, and paying more in fuel tax than most of us make in a lifetime. I don't have a quarrel with the gov't assisting people that are down on their luck. I DO take issue with those that LIVE on welfare and are able to work just CHOOSE not to. I paid ( am still paying for an education) and work hard to do so. I do have a nice life, but it is not in Florence anymore. I also pay taxes. I simply think the gov't takes a bit more than they need.

Why does every new piece of legislation passed need a new committee to run it. Why should I have to pay for my healthcare as well as pay for people who haven't bothered to come into this great country legally or are here legally and choose not to be in the work force.

This country can provide any opportunity you wish for. You can CHOOSE to take a leap and leave your comfort zone or you can CHOOSE to let others, then complain that you don't have what they have!

After reading this, I am so confused as to what exactly your stance is exactly.. rofl..

You told someone that they don't know how to debate, when you took your own anger out on Dog, for something Jones said to you that hit a nerve.

Most debates, I've seen, while there is staunch supporting or disapproval of the topic is being discussed, I've not quite seen someone react so snake bitten as you do.

As for this post, we do pay for too much as taxes go. Not all of us are living high on the hog, and that tax money does mean something to us. Doesn't make anyone delusional at all.

The tax system does have it's problems, and I'm sure if you would just come across more civilly you might see that people might agree with you more. But when you post something that confuses the issues like with the long "Don't" list (because there are a few things in there, that fall on either side of the spectrum) you leave the replier confused as to what is being debated upon.

You don't really outline what exactly you are debating on or the issue you have, or your stance. Usually when I do debate (which is very rare for me) the debate is about the issues not the people posting for/against them. You opened the door for me to say this, though.

Or Maybe you do let your stance known, and it just flies over my head. I'm first to admit that all of it confused me. lol....

I'm not sure if this is all copied and pasted either, but if your wife did get messed out of her benefits, I am sorry for that. It's usually the honest people that do get messed out of stuff, but in the end the honest people win out, because of their character.

Just my, very confused, attempt of having two cents here. Smiler

I'd be in favor of a fair tax of 20%. The government would probably never do that though, they take as much as they can, well at least from those that do not fall into the tax exemptions or tax cuts.

I'd also be in favor of a nationwide free healthcare, like Canada has. I think it would be possible, but that too would never happen due to the insurance companies.. *shakes head*

You can't exactly make the poor pay more taxes-- they don't have the money. That leaves only one way to flatten the tax rates-- that is, reduce the taxes the rich pay: soak the middle class. If tax rates go down on the rich, and we're not cutting total taxes, the middle classes have to pay more.

There's a lot of difference between a sales tax and an income tax.

I can understand as to why you're confused,You watch too much TV!
Actually, no I don't.. Rofl..

I find it funny that you assume that. I watch a lot of my son's cartoons, mainly because he likes them. While he is doing that I am designing graphics for a website I work with. Therefore not much time to watch tv, as anything else goes. Smiler

I just stated something, that over the short time I've been here, I've seen. An objective viewpoint, as I've never had any dealings with you as discussion goes.

I will be first to admit, that I don't debate much.. Why? because I learn more by reading it than debating it. I am probably young by the standards here, and that makes me a bit at a disadvantage with the life experience that I know so many others have.

So, instead of opening my mouth and making myself look like the ignorant/naive person I am on a lot of topics, I glean the knowledge, and soak up all points of view. Smiler Not very many people can admit to being ignorant about things, but I am one of them. lol

From reading over your thread here though, the first list itself, can have contradictory stances, therefore, that is what confused me. It could have been said easier than that, that you just don't agree with "such and such" and then proceeded with the arguement of why you think the way you do.

To lump all the things you listed together makes this a very broad discussion base, because people replying can choose out of the list in which they do/do not agree with and debate that. Hence my confusion. Smiler

I may be back in a bit, gotta make lunch for my lil' guy.

You need to go back and read dkns' post carefully. He never said anything about flattening tax rates. His proposal was to do away with all income taxes and have a 20% sales tax. In other words tax people on the amount of money they spend as opposed to the amount they make. That seems a whole lot fairer to me. The way our present tax system is set up it punishes people (in the form of more taxes) for working more. Someone working 60 hours a week should only have to pay more tax than someone working 10 hours a week when they spend that extra money, not just because they worked 50 more hours to make it.
As far as federal taxes go, the upper income earners pay most of the taxes taken in: “The top 1% of income earners paid about 36.7% of federal income taxes. The top 1% paid 36.7% of federal income taxes and 25.3% of all federal taxes in 2004. The top 20% of income earners paid 67.1% of all federal taxes. By contrast, families in the bottom 40% of income earners, incomes below $36,300, typically paid no federal income tax and received money back from the government."

Taxing upper income too heavily removes funds for investment in new business, etc. And, thus more jobs. Sames goes for taxing all income, as more and more people have401 (k) accounts or similar.

Your statistics have little relevance unless you also provide income statistics as well. What portion of income was taxes? That is a much more relevant statistic.

you can't be serious. the cost of operating a sewer system, trash pick up and the post office ARE PAID FOR BY THE GOVERNMENT WITH THE FEES THEY COLLECT. THAT IS WHAT TAXES ARE. Unless you are a Regan REVENUE ENHANCEMENT fan.
FedX and UPS only charge you enough to pay their costs and a profit. TAXPAYERS PAY FOR THE POST ROAD (HIGHWAYS) AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL PAID BY FEES FROM ALL COMMERCIAL AIR, NOT JUST FED X.
and, two out of 28 is not overwhelming, and 28 is a very short list. Add Federal and State Parks and Monuments, and THE US ARMED FORCES THAT PROTECT THE SORRY BUTTS OF ALL OF US.
STOP CRYING, AND FOR YOUR CHILDREN'S SAKE, START PAYING FOR WHAT YOU GET.
