Well, Secretary of State Chapman and Attorney General King have been clear that if Tim James wants a recount, then he has to pay for it. Taxpayers are not paying for it. So, James is now fundraising to pay for it. Republicans should save those donations for the runoff and general election. How many times has a recount yielded a different result? Just wondering out loud.

If his supporters have any common sense at all they will not throw away their money for a recount.

Jelb87, that type of recount got us our current governor. He kept recounting until he won.

Harley, you're right. I remember that now. Thanks for that info.

Tigrtrek, I still say those donors who will be paying for this recount should save their dough for the runoff or the general election (or to feed starving children).
I hope Bentley gets it. I had to vote Democratic because of the Sheriff's race, Colbert County Coroner, and District Judge. It looks like I should have just voted Republican, since none of my votes did a hill of beans good. I don't see how Byrne did as well as he did, especially considering his push for charter schools. Do people really think charter schools are a good thing?
Tomme, the Republican Party generally supports charter schools while the Democratic Party generally opposes them. My personal opinion, who can afford them? We can't pay for the single state school system we have, so what makes Byrne and other GOPers think we can afford a dual system? Doesn't make sense to me.
Alphonse, I think Al Franken did win after a recount, but I also remember a lot of "shady" things going on with that election, particularly with the now-defunct ACORN group.

The recount has now made it official: Tim James loses by more votes than he started with. It will be Robert Bentley and Bradley Byrne in the 7/13 runoff. Please vote for Dr. Bentley if you plan to vote Republican. Let's not get "Byrned" by Bradley Byrne. I think BB is a loose cannon myself.
