Does anybody on here actually buy a Times Daily Newspaper or just read it for free online? Anyway the TD has a new newspaper design making it's debut today. They have a few kinks that need to be worked out, but overall I do like the new design. I read two different stories that started on the front page of a section and was continued on page 4 and one on page 6, neither story was continued on page 4 or 6 so you had to look through the paper to finish reading the story.

Hard copy or electronic edition, let's hope the TD's new editorial computer software system has an updated and functional spelling and grammar checking component. Over the past few years, the many "EDIT-ors" have made me wonder exactly what their title means because editing was obviously a function of their job description that was not put into practice. I must have unknowingly appreciated my English classes more than I thought. The new look is nice, though barely apparent on the e-edition. Let's give them time to work out the bugs (ref. the vague Residents' Petition article this morning) then see how it's going.
I love the new "look", but the biggest problem with the Times Daily Dissapointment, is the lack of real local news coverage. They have gone overboard printing "human interest" articles, and news articles from other states, but very little actual local (Shoals area) news. The other big problem is the sports section. It has to be the worst sports section in the South East with the exception of the Decatur Daily
Yes, I actually buy the TD. I have always been quick to criticize their grammar and lack of accuracy, but they do have good points. I think the Human Interest stories are only on Mondays and I like them. One of us on the forum had an article about her, and I jumped up and down when I saw it. Very good taste, TD.

Many thanks for adding Suduko last January, but on the flipside, I read the comics in one or two other newspapers also and find that on Sundays you always cut out the opening joke (if there is one). Do you lack space?

Nothing is perfect, but please, please, can the TD reporters at least learn where they are when they write a story. (We could perhaps excuse Bernie, since he is prone to getting lost.)
The new design is poorly constructed (IMHO). They have used somewhere (it varies) between 7-9 different font styles. There is no consistency in typography even from one article to the next. It really looks to me like a 1st year design class mashed this up over late night beers; with each student assigned a different area of each page.

If design could reflect content....OH SNAP....it DOES in this case...
