More people are leaving the U.S. because all these tax shelters they've had for so long may be soon cease to exist. They use fellow Americans to make their riches then instead of giving back to help the less fortunate their greedy little selves renounce citizenship or hide money in offs**** accounts. I say good riddance!!!

Most tax shelters ceased to exist decades ago. In becoming wealthy, people usually hire others who work for them -- voluntary two way transactions that profit both. Most who leave do so because they see their tax burden becoming larger, debt growing and fewer chances to continue to grow businesses.  Now,  find a poor person to hire you.

Running off people of ability is not the way to grow an economy and ensure prosperity.

poor rt. wingnuts... never bothered to tell you people that tina turner has a NEW HUSBAND, who she just married in switzerland, after being together for 27 years.  they've been living in switzerland for the past 20 years. seems the rt. wingnuts would like you to think she's just decided to "abandon her native country".  rt. wingnuts.. .they sure do hate facts.

airmobile,

Yes, she's lived abroad.   However, she retained her US citizenship. Now, she's joined the hundreds who give up their US citizenship since Obama became president. Used to be only a few annually before that.

The thanks was sarcastic, in case it flew over you.

if this isn't you "implying"... that she left because obama is the potus, perhaps you should change your password... someone else is using your account!

Here's a new WSJ article to 'splain some of the expat's issues:

http://online.wsj.com/article/...exttoWhatsNewsSecond

From the above article:

Some U.S. citizens say they are exasperated by a growing raft of paperwork that forces U.S. citizens living abroad to declare the minutiae of their financial holdings and other assets. That has increased the attraction of becoming a citizen in places such as Hong Kong, where the individual tax rate is capped at 15%.

"My decision was less about the actual amount of taxes I had to pay, and more about the system," said one investment banker, who renounced his U.S. citizenship and is now a Hong Kong citizen. "I'm not an ultrawealthy dude. It was the hassle with all the paperwork."

How is she greedy, selfish, or a brat? Don't you think she's paid plenty in taxes?  Do you think only people in the US made her rich?

I've never given her much thought. I do think it's funny how you lefties attack her. She made it big, got rich, but again, it wasn't only the people in the US that did it for her. She paid her taxes while she was here, so what's your problem?  How about bill clinton's big buddy?

Denise Rich Renounces U.S. Citizenship, Will Save Tens Of Millions In Tax Dollars

* Move could save Rich tens of millions of dollars in long haul

* New York penthouse up for sale for $65 million

* Wrote songs for Aretha Franklin, Jessica Simpson

Husband's pardon bought from bill clinton.

You must have given her a lot of thought, judging from your support of her for leaving the US to avoid taxes.  My problem is, she don't want to pay for the privileges that allowed her to accumulate wealth.  Then you righties want to allow her to renounce her american citizenship and still have the right to come back and enjoy America without paying for the privileges associated with being an American citizen.

I support anyone's right to leave, renounce their citizenship, that wants to do so. You lefties haven't taken that right away from people yet. What privileges will she "enjoy" if she comes back that she won't pay for? At least she didn't buy a pardon from clinton and then leave, like the lefty denise rich. That's the one you should be bellyaching about if you want to get torn up about it. Expressing my opinion on the subject doesn't mean I've spent any significant amount of time thinking about her. How do you feel about retirees leaving the country because they can live better in some other countries than they could in the US? Want to punish them too?

Shouldn't we be asking what's wrong with the system that would encourage successful taxpayers to leave?

When such persons left other nations, the leftie response was the same -- ingrates! Not, why?  As most nations don't tax income earned overseas, those didn't have to renounce their citizenship.

You sure do spend a lot of time  praising her and her actions.

I never said she couldn't give up her citizenship.  If she does, don't treat her like a vacationing tourist.

=================

OK, show me just where I "praised" her. All I've done is ask you why you're so torn up over her someone doing something she has every right to do, asked why you weren't as upset with bubba clinton's pal doing it, pointed out to you that the people in the US are not the only ones that made her wealthy, asked you why she shouldn't be allowed to come back to visit family and friends, and what it is about her actions that make you call her greedy, selfish, and a brat, and what "privilages" you thought she had here that she didn't pay for. I also asked if you felt the same about people who left for other countries where they could survive their retirement. I asked you a lot of things but you won't answer, you keep deflecting by insisting I'm giving her a lot of thought. Silly.
