In fact it's not even worth yesterday's nickel...It would take a $1.19 to have the "purchase power" of a 1787 nickel.
How in the world do we allow this continue?
Here's an interesting WEBSITE where you can canculate the "purchase power" of money from different years. An interesting thing you will find is that from the year the Constitution was debated, 1787 until 1913, the year the "legal" counterfeiters at the Federal Reserve began, inflation was less than a dime.
If you had $1.06 in 1913, you had the same "purchase power" of a $1 in 1787. Today, to have the same "purchase power" of that 1913 $1.06 or the 1787 $1, you'll need...$22.30!
Printing money out of thin air does not "stimulate" the economy...it does not "prime the pump"...it steals "value". It allows big bloated government to "fund" it's out of control spending by "hiding" the cost through inflation.
Instead of recognizing this, politicians (left & right) continue to support the Fed despite the Fed's obvious use of a power specifically delegated to Congress and it's horrible record of 22 fold inflation since it's creation. How someone in good conscience could continue to support this is beyond me. Yet if you dare point out it's horrible record you are called a "nut" or "crank".
I'm sticking with this "NUT".
