People know if they are capable of teaching at home. No it's not for everybody.
Is public school for everyone? Religion should be taught at home first. Just my
thinking. Public schools were once the back bone of this country. It made america
a great place. In world education we've dropped and its not because of money.
Hi Child,

Personally, I praise God that all my grandchildren are in a private Christian school. It was such a blessing when we went to Grandparent's Day a few months ago -- and heard both students and teachers praying. It was such a blessing to hear the name of God and Jesus Christ spoken without reservation.

And, on top of that -- they are getting great educations. Many from their school have gone on to top tier colleges and universities.

This year we will have grandchildren from Kindergarten to the eleventh grade -- and we have no worry about any alternative lifestyles being taught, we have no worry that Darwin's Evolution will be taught as scientific fact.

Yes, while I support home schooling and have many Friends who are or have been home schooling -- my preference is for a professionally run and taught private Christian school.

In 1951, when I went from Junior High into High School at Sheffield High -- we had a number of classmates who came from the local Roman Catholic school. With no exception, these kids were better students, had better study and work habits, and did better in high school than those of us who grew up totally in the public school system.

And, that was in the 1950s. Imagine how much worse the public schools are today. Our whole public school system needs an overhaul desperately. But, it will not get one. Not in our current society.

So, once again -- praise God for Christian schools!

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

It has a lot to do with religion, if a parent wants religion taught in a classroom setting.
Can't get that at public schools, so some parents home school. You are right in saying it depends on WHO is doing the teaching. It takes dedicated parents.

Thankfully, I know a lot of successful home schooled friends, and they came from a network of families that shared their talents and strengths with each other to make it work and had great results.

Also, if you are in a high crime area, you might not want your kid exposed to crime while trying to learn. I am not referring to the usual run of the mill life choices everyone faces as a teenager in school, like a kid brings pot, or beer, or hormone crazed boys and girls. I'm talking about schools that have serious crimes... School can be deadly.
Some times parents want to give their kid a safer option and home school.
I really wanted to home school my youngest boy. He has ADHD and the public school system could not deal with it. He was falling further and further behind and all they cared about was if he made it to class on time and sitting still.

I had to work to make ends meet and thought there was no way to handle both. I eventually worked more hours and sent him to a private school his last 2 years.

If I had it to do all over again I would have lived in a smaller house, owned one car, and made less trips to Wal-Mart to be able to educate him at home with more one on one.

I applaud you b50m.
