NOW, since DNA has been in use for about 15 years.

NOW after knowing that this man had killed before, escaped jail, stole cars, abducted a woman.

NOW after all this time and information this whole thing comes up for 'scrutiny'.

NOW after him losing the case against him about lethal injection being cruel and unusual punishment.

NOW, his daughter who visited this summer after NOT seeing him for more than a decade, yet all this is STILL going on, and in the media hype.

Oh shoot, I just read the part of the article in today's paper where Stone, his daughter, said that "people think he is guilty because he has been convicted of it in 3 different courts".

Tommy Authur sure has had some good luck to go along with all his crime spree's. Seems like even when he is out on the streets, he lives a life of crime, no matter what.

And about Wicker's wife, wonder if she could be tried for perjury? I think her role in this was way 'UNDER PLAYED'.

They are all innocent too, huh? Wink

And they ALL have excuses to go along with their innocence, even though they escape, run, kidnap, steal during all that time "away" from jail. All this after committing another murder years prior.

This man is BAD NEWS.
woodchuck, there is no doubt that if there was EVER a man who needed the needle it would be Authur.

His reign of terror for so many people will be remembered for many years to come. I also know the man he shot while escaping, not very well, but even HE deservers the justice the State has imposed, not ONCE but THREE times.

Gosh, how many trials does this man have to have, or rather, how many more millions does the State need to pay. I would be VERY VERY interested in how much his State-paid defense has cost in the last 40 years (including his first murder trial). I bet it would blow everyone's mind to know how much he has cost the tax-payers.
Looks like most of the people here think that the evidence needs to be checked.

At this stage of the game, I see no reason NOT to check it, but rather question WHY it hasn't already been checked. That should have been the MAIN thing his lawyers pushed for at least TEN years ago, not 3 weeks before scheduled execution, don't you think?
Why do criminals commit crimes -- KNOWING what the consequences could be -- and then still have the nerve to complain about the punishment and that they don't deserve it?

The way I look at it -- if you commit the crime you do the time -- if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen -- if you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch...if you can't handle the consequences -- don't misbehave!
This ONE crime happened 25 years ago while Authur was an escapee from work release for prior crimes.

How much DNA or fingerprints do you think they even KNEW about saving then? This IS Alabama, which is not a detriment, only saying our technology is years behind some of the other bigger states. That being the case, we did NOT know that someday this might be something that would even be important, how much saved? I would bet the farm that if very much at all was not properly stored so there would probably be no useful "anything".

I think it is just another STALL technique. They have had about 15 years of DNA to request this action to be taken.

The man is a HARDENED criminal, he has always either been in jail, in prison or an escapee. NOW we get to keep on paying for him. He thinks the whole world revolves around HIM.

It literally made me sick to my stomach to read the part where he said "They are trying to kill my azzzzzzz". I mean, the two people HE killed didn't get a 25 year reprieve from HIM, now did they???

This case is sickening and that is being nice. The scary thing is I only lived about 4 blocks from where the Wickers lived when Troy was murdered. I STILL remember cop cars flooding the streets for DAYS on end.

Memories like that, way back then, leave lasting impressions.

At the time of the crime, they did a rape kit. I think the results proved it was not an African American, but I don't remember all the details. The rape kit is still available, but I, too, think Arthur did it. He was given life when he killed his girlfriend's sister. Does anyone think he's an angel?

IF local authorities kept the evidence to where it isn't degraded then maybe some answers COULD come to light.

But why wait so long to even petition the courts to have it tested??? IF it isn't degraded, I think Authur KNOWS what it will show but it could take a year to turn over and test if the sample is still good.

I think it is simply to buy more time.

I personnaly know the Colbert County jailer that Arthur shot during his escape and he still physically suffers from the wound after all these years. I have no sympathy for Arthur nor do I believe he is innocent.

And I remember how upset my son was(whom at the time was in 1st grade with Mr.Wickers son)about his friends Dad being killed.I remember having to go to school that day because my son was so upset. It's something I'll never forget and I think it's past time that someone pay for that killing. Judy has been out, now, for a while and she should have had to rot behind bars !!!!!!

I think you have summed up the entire situation very well!!!

And IF he had of thought there was DNA to test, he would have done so many years ago, not as a tactic for yet "another" stay.
