Torture Her!

By David Michael Green

This top official in the Justice Department, who serves as its liaison to the White House, is now refusing to answer any congressional questions about the US attorneys scandal. You know, the one in which George and Dick and Karl and Alberto have been hiring and firing federal prosecutors based on their willingness to politicize the legal system.

That was the same site that printed a story that was supposedly written by the Washington Post. The only problem was when I searched for the story in their on line archives, nothing came up. The only explanation for this is that was completely fabricated. So this story is probably fiction as well and is really not worth wasting time on.

I must have missed that one NashBama, I use ICH has a source, but always post the home website of the stories I present here. I have NEVER gone to the original source site and not found the story.
Doesn't mean it can't happen, but it has not happened to me.
This whole thing is just more Democrat vs. Republican political BS. If these were Republicans investigating a sitting Democratic president, everyone would have an opposite point of view. 99% of what goes on in Washington by Republicans and Democrats is politically motivated. Anyone that believes this whole deal is not politically motivated and the main concern of these congressmen is "truth, justice and the American way" is pretty naive. And the beat goes on. The two major parties trying to discredit each other. Who'd of thunk it? Roll Eyes

vote-em-all-out

Wow! Well, someone has to say it: rforeverfree, I don't think anyone's gonna buy what you're peddlin'. If you'd like to cut someone, then do it. But, please, and this truly is sincere, please don't mistake us for fools who'll believe that you were on your knees praying for the poor, little lefty. People get on to pba a lot, but if you go back through the forum and look at the number of replies on his threads, you see that he gets people talking.

Let me suggest that you get to know the crowd before you resort to playing the concerned accountability partner. Most of us have ridden in more than a few rodeos and new bull doesn't scare us.

Well, then, let me be the first to welcome you to the forum.

Here we believe that posting IS the invitation to receive "suggestions." If you post, expect response and/or scrutiny. We also DON'T GIVE A RIP whether you're asking us to offer opinions. If you wanted to post with impunity, then you're not looking for a forum, you're looking for a blog with disabled comments.

I am not easily "upset" - so fear not. As written, your "compassion and undestanding" read a bit disengenious. If you are sincere, my apologies, if not - I will stick by my earlier description.

ya nailed this one SouthernPatriot ...Congratulations. She does not want to testify because someone has had their hands in the Cookie Jar, and it could be her.

She doesn't want to testify because she doesn't want to get railroaded like Libby did. She mis-speaks one word and she's the next one on trial. I would plead the 5th too if I were dealing with those people.

She does not want to testify because if she tells the truth she will be in trouble, and if she tells lies material to the issue at hand she will be in bigger trouble.
Libby was NOT charged with perjury for a slip of the tongue or a mis spoken word. He was charged with perjury AND obstruction of justice because he told lies that had a material bearing on the case under investigation by the Grand Jury and refused to recant.

Oh sure, why dont we all just tell the justice system to bite it. Why testify? Just clam up. If you dont want to tell the truth - just dont. While we are at it, why not just dump the jury system? Its useless. This is hypocrisy - Un-American, hypocrisy.
Southern Patriot, I am putting this by itself, because it is not a response to anything you have posted. This is a LECTURE. You have my permission to attend or not. There will be no quiz and you will not be expected to parrot these words back to me. I am simply telling you the facts about the administration of JUSTICE.

One, justice does not involve forced confessions, but it does involve forced testimony. Justice allows a person to refuse to respond if the truthful answer to a question would incriminate them. Justice DOES NOT allow a person to refuse to make a truthful answer that would incriminate someone else, any one else.
Justice does not permit a witness to pick and choose questions, unless the question goes to the witness's guilt or innocence. It does not permit confessions and guilty statements to be admitted without corroboration, either written and signed statements or statements before witnesses besides the person presenting the statement.
There have been allegations of wrongdoing. The investigation of these allegations is in the best interest of all the parties involved. The allegations may be false. It is quite possible that without investigation the allegations will not be laid to rest. Her refusal to testify, or the refusal of the President to permit her to testify may or may not be evidence of guilt, but the fact that the President is refusing to allow her to testify looks a lot like the Situation in the investigation of the dismissal of Federal Attorneys. Gonzales said he was not personally involved. Someone who was admittedly personally involved says Gonzales was personally involved. Gonzales really did not want that fact to be revealed.
Bush may be trying to prevent similar facts from being revealed by the truthful testimony of his office staff.

You, by supporting the Right of the President to Keep People from Testifying who Might reveal criminal behavior are urging that the President of the United States be absolved on any and all counts. You have granted to George W. Bush the same kind of power as is held by Monarchs and Popes, and Ayatollahs. And, SIR, YOU DECRY GIVING THAT POWER TO ANYONE EXCEPT GEORGE W BUSH.
