PR, I always told my son that I would get him anything with 4 wheels, but NEVER anything with 2 wheels.

Most of the time is isn't the motorcycle driver's fault, but people just don't look out for them. There has been so many killed in the last few years in this area or hurt really bad.

I don't know many people that live in Town Creek, so I probably don't know this man either, but I sure feel for his family right now Frowner

That's a problem with motorcycles and accidents. It doesn't matter who's right or who's wrong, but we know who's getting the worst part of the deal.

I remember someone telling me once that with motorcycles, it's not if you have an accident, but when. And it's generally a losing proposition.
There are two types of people when it comes to bikes, you either love them or hate them. I agree it could be the most dangerous way to get from point A to point B but there is no feeling like the wind in your face and the road at your feet. There are too many people killed each year on motorcycles but I guarentee most of those people died happy. I just lost my dad on july 22 when he was involved in an accident as well. My dad loved his bike and the open road more then anyone i have ever known. Even though it was way to early in life for him (55) he died a happy man. I'll probably never own another bike myself but not because of fear but because the cost of not being there for my wife and child is just way to high.

Be carefull out there riders, look both ways and watch out for the big boys. When you hit the road rev it up loud just one time for my daddy and all the fallen riders who have went on ahead of us.

I love you daddy.
True, the motorcycle always gets the worst end.

I went to school with 3 guys who were all killed between my junior year and my senior year and it is really devastating to a kid in school to loose people they are close to. And they were just friends.

There is no way I can even come close to thinking what the family is going through, but my thoughts are with them through all this.

That makes about 3 killed just in the last few days, right?

People, please slow down and watch out for motorcycles, they are everywhere.

Amen to that, unclegus!!!

Kindred: Thank you so much for kind words. Yours along with so many other have meant so much to my family and me. My mom told me three others have been killed along Savannah highway since my dad. Somebody was telling me of a guy on Wood Ave just a few days ago and now this morning. 1 or 100 it's just too many.

Very wise words!!!! And very true ones too Smiler
I sell insurance as many of you know. I have the man that was in the car insured. He called me this morning and was told by him that he was making a left turn and was slowing down and the motorcycle plowed into the back of him. Also said that it was very bright this morning and that could have been the cause of it. The 51 year old man also slid to try to avoid the accident but it was to late. He slid underneath my clients vehicle even. Sad story none the less. Could happen to anyone.

My driveway lets out directly onto Veterans, and i can say from experience that it takes a keen eye & quick reaction time not to get killed on that road. just yesterday a huge mack truck nearly hit me while i was waiting to pull into my drive-way because he was doing nearly 80 and not paying attention (and i drive a little Ford Focus, so this was as close to a near death experience as i care to get!). I really hope opening the other end of the bridge lightens the traffic there a little.

Its horrible trying to pull out onto veterans drive. You can hardly see any traffic because of the houses, fences, and brush. It's a wonder that we don't have more fatal wrecks on Veterans dr. "By all means I'M NOT CALLING FOR MORE REDLIGHTS".

I agree about the red lights because I think our area has way too many already. I think the main thing people need to think about is maybe a different route a safer one. It couldnot hurt and it may save a life.

This is awful. I am sorry and my thoughts go to the family of the man who was killed. Also Mrbradg my thoughts are with your clients too I bet they are hurting mentally too. In a situation like this no one goes unscathed I donot think.

Just a painful thing. I had a 23 year old and his wife and 2 kids awhile back come in here to get insurance on a crotch rocket. It was 2,300 dollars a year! It's so high anywhere you go. One week later he hits a truck in the door going around 80 mph and knocks the truck 20 feet from the coll. site. Both dead. Because of many of things like this I have seen, I will not write anymore motorcycle insurance if your 25 and younger.

I consider myself to be an extremely cautious driver--have been accused of driving like a little old lady, and not the one from Pasadena. About two years ago I was returning from Athens and had reached the Clememts area (Yes, Vick, I know it's cursed. I have seen two fatal car wrecks there myself), when I desired to switch lanes to pass a slow-moving car. Since my driver-side mirror would slip down slightly on a long drive, I checked carefully for cars in the left lane. There were no cars, and I signalled and changed lanes. There was, unluckily, a motorcycle. I'm sure I barely missed him, and he saluted me as I pulled back into the right lane in front of the car I was passing. I thanked God I had not hit the man--can't recall when I've had a closer miss. For my money, motorcycles are too dangerous to drive, but I doubt I'll change anyone's mind, so if you have to drive them, be careful. I've heard too many ER nurses complain about how messy brains are to clean up.
You should see these guys zipping through traffic on the interstates. Just stooopid.

I always fuss about the black drivers in Ensley signaling from a left turn from the far right lane by stopping and motioning with their hand the way they want to go so I have to give these guys on the motorcycles a pat on the back. The safest ones I've seen down here were the black riders called something like "black angels club". They are the only group of motorcycle riders that were driving the way they should. They were together, everybody signaled, everybody drove cautiously. I drove pretty much beside them all the way from McCall to Moody, down 459 and 20.
