and He's Definitely Onto Something

Trump Questioned a Reporter's Ties to the Chinese Government – and He's Definitely Onto Something

During Monday evening's White House Coronavirus Task Force briefing, President Donald Trump questioned a reporter about whether or not she works for a Chinese-run television network. The questioning was prompted when the reporter asked about the Chinese government and companies, like Huawei and Alibaba, donating medical supplies and personal protective equipment to the United States.

"Who are you working for, China?" Trump asked.

"Hong Kong Phoenix TV," the reporter replied.

"Who owns that, China?" Trump pressed. "Is it owned by China? Is it owned by the state?"

"No, it's not," she said. "It's a private-owned company."

TRUMP: “Who are you working for, China?”

Reporter: "Hong Kong Phoenix TV,"

TRUMP: "Who owns that, China? Is it owned by China?"

As One America News Network's Liz Wheeler pointed out, Phoenix TV is technically "privately-owned" but their biggest investor is a state-owned mobile company.

Liz Wheeler

Phoenix TV is Chinese propaganda.

Yes, they're technically privately owned.

But their main investor is Chinese state-owned China Mobile.

From a former Phoenix TV director: "PhoenixTV content is subject to dictates of Central Communist Propaganda Dept"

Back in 2018, it was revealed that Phoenix TV was "identified by U.S. intelligence agencies as a major overseas outlet used to spread propaganda and promote the policies of the communist government in Beijing. The Hong Kong television station also has close ties to China's intelligence service and military," the Washington Free Beacon reported at the time. "... Former Chinese insider and billionaire businessman Guo Wengui said Phoenix TV was established under Chinese leader Jiang Zemin in the early 1990s specifically as a government and intelligence tool for overseas influence operations."

The goal of the propaganda machine is to garner support for the regime's policies and downplay atrocities, like human rights abuses.

Another report from the Free Beacon revealed more insight into Phoenix TV's ownership:

In 2009 testimony before the congressional U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, Anne Marie-Brady, a fellow at the Wilson Center, revealed that Phoenix is "nominally privately owned" but that its main investor is the state-owned enterprise China Mobile.

As an example of the broadcaster's links to the government, [Sen. Ted] Cruz noted that Phoenix in 2016 broadcast the forced confessions of five Hong Kong booksellers who had been kidnapped by Chinese authorities for violating Chinese censorship laws.

The Hoover Institution dubbed Phoenix TV the "semi-official" Chinese media outlet in Hong Kong, the Daily Caller reported. The pro-democracy think tank Freedom House revealed that a former Chinese military officer who is close to officials in Beijing owns the network.

“Phoenix TV’s coverage is typically favorable to the CCP [Chinese Communist Party],” the 2017 report stated. “Moreover, over the past two years, it has been used as an outlet for airing televised confessions by various detained CCP critics, most notably all five Hong Kong booksellers abducted by Chinese security forces in late 2015.”

The Chinese government has continually pumped out propaganda over the Wuhan coronavirus. Instead of being honest about the virus from the get-go, the regime sought to cover things up. When Taiwan attempted to alert the World Health Organization about the virus, they were ignored. Not only that but the WHO continually reiterated Chinese talking points, including the biggest one: that the virus does not transmit from human-to-human (which we now know is not the case).

It's All Over Now, Take What You Think Is Necessary

Original Post

It's so apparent and obvious to anyone that takes the time to listen that there is a concerted effort on the media's part to distance China from the COVID-19 virus.  Just the other major efforts were made to target Europe as the source for New York's outbreak given that New York is the largest outbreak spot in the United States.  What was omitted in the story was how Europe got the virus which of course was from China.

I have no basis, other than personal opinion, as to the source of the virus but I do believe that it escaped a disease/bio lab in the city that the first exposures were mentioned.  It could have happened naturally and from the Chinese weird appetites and cravings or diet but I much more think that it's highly likely that it escaped the lab not too far from that live food market.  I'm also not so sure that the Chinese don't have a cure or treatment that they haven't shared with the rest of the world but again that's just speculation based upon the fact that the Chinese were able to contain it to just that city in a country that has so many people in it yet they only shut down one city/section?  Another thing is the way that Russia has escaped being hard hit by the epidemic/pandemic but then one thing to go against my theory is how hard Iran has been hit by it.

I just think that it's plausible that the thing escaped a lab that was engineering it for some sort of bioweapon because if it was meant to cripple the west then they are darn close to doing it, as it is.  Our economy is in a dire condition right now and hopes are that it can recover just as fast but right now it's an unknown.

One caveat though that bodes well for the United States with this current outbreak is that maybe it took something like this to awaken politicians and the public as to the critical need to keep certain manufacturing in our Country and to reestablish some manufacturing that could be or is critical to our National Security.  Maybe through this pandemic changes will be implemented that will counter the vast lead that China has over us in certain areas and bringing back to our Nation the Drug industry and other critical areas that could swing the balance of war if such ever did occur.

I wish he'd have asked her about the Chinese women coming here to have anchor babies...then going back to China.

One thing that may be a good thing about this virus and the government clamping down on moving around and such.  People, young people, may get a small sense of what it would be like to live under Socialism and/or Communism where freedoms are restricted if they exist at all and the all-powerful, government controls everything and who can do what.

See how they like living under quarantine and maybe they can get a small sense about what losing your freedom can really mean.

This is probably the new normal.  That surveillance state is coming though. If, we the people were smart, we'd demand medicare 4 all, privacy rights, civil rights, maybe UBI and no cuts to social security or medicare.  This ain't a young people problem. This is the world older generations are leaving them to deal with.

Just maybe the end result of COVIC19 will the police state the libs have
always wanted. This is as good as any excuse to go for it.
#1...ruin the economy, maintain the same direction we're headed now.
And so on.
I wished he'd asked about CornFlake, CornPop's cousin and don't  forget
about CornBall the joker. CornStalk was a real stick in the mud but they
