I believe that the total removal of our forces from Syria and our protection of the Kurds will be seen as Trump's greatest mistake.  The article I linked to is about the reaction from one of our Special Forces members as I can only imagine how they are feeling.  I do agree that there are times when you have to pull out troops and reasons to do so but in this case, I do feel that Trump acted too quickly and without listening to many around him.  Right now it's too late to undo what's been done but when you leave those that have helped you out in the cold the next time you look for assistance and help you can bet there will be those who remember this move.  In this instance, I have to say I disagree with the move the President made and I feel he could have handled it differently.

the Kurds assisted us for land.  they have been fighting with Turkey and others for 1000s of years.  I don't know much about them, however it has been said anyone in that area is only for us if it benefits them.  That area hasn't gotten along for 1000 years, do you think they ever will?

Question is when is the time for us to pull out?  When do we stop sacrificing our troops for the benefit of others?  Why are we the world's police?

I don’t know much about the Kurds either other than many of the special forces teams felt we owed them more.  The thing that made me question my stance more than anything was the National media hawking the same opinion.  These people never care if the position is right or wrong they just back what Trump is against or whatever appears unpopular for Trump at the time.

i have no doubt they wanted a price for their support but I fear the message it sends to everyone else looking for a price to support us will this set an ugly precedent and cost us more in the end but yes they have been fighting with Turkey for forever also just like Jews and Arabs.

I disagree GB. I am all for bringing our troops home and letting other countries fight their own battles. Isn't this what Trump promised us he'd do? Let the ones so concerned about the removal go in and fight if they want. I just hope the left doesn't use this as an excuse to bring in even more "refugees" that they claim are orphans and widows but are actually young military aged single men with an anti-American agenda.

People that know say the same.....that they have always and will always be fighting. The time for us to pull out is past due and I asked the same thing many times...how is it our duty to police the world and bring their castoffs into our country to support?

My problem is not with his keeping his promise but with the timing and method.  A quick without warning pull out rather than Give notice, to our friends, so they could plan their assuming power.  As it is the immediate pullback was immediately followed by Turkeys attack on them.  The other problem is either he didn’t get, and consider, input from our military leaders before doing it or he ignored their input and or assistance in planning it as a step down rather than a mass pull out.

At least at this juncture that’s what it seems but then Trump doesn’t have unbiased reporting and maybe some of what he did or how has not been reported accurately

The Kurds fought ISIS with the US

I get it, people want to give trump the benefit of the doubt.  But at some point, it's only right to hold him accountable.  And to ask, if his business interests are more important than US interest?

If this leads to war(I hope it doesn't), US troops will be in harms way.  And maybe we take in Kurdish refugees(which some of you won't like.)

"Thanks for fighting ISIS for us, but ya know, the business needs.  Work it out amongst yourselves."

Sorry GB...but no matter how he does it I am just glad he is doing it.

"This is no hasty decision and Congress can quit with the feigned surprise and self righteous indignation. The US has been trying to negotiate a 20 mile safe zone between Syria and the Kurds for years. On Feb 20th 2019 the US Department of State Deputy Spokesperson Robert Palladino said the US continued talks with Turkey on creating a buffer zone in northeastern Syria AFTER THE WITHDRAWAL OF US TROOPS FROM THE AREA. Was Congress asleep at this time?

In August of this year Turkey announced it had reached an agreement with Washington. Where was Congress then? On Tues. the 27th of August an official in the YPG-led alliance said that the YPG would pull forces and heavy weapons from a strip along Syria's border with Turkey under US-Turkish deals.

The United States, despite protests from Arab governments as well as the Turkish government, began supporting the YPG and provided arms and ammunition for a group that was recognized as a terrorist organization by its NATO allies. In order to not break U.S. law and not to look too hypocritical, U.S. authorities drew an artificial distinction between the PKK, which was recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union, and the YPG, which was an affiliate of the organization".
