"He briefly used his name". He who? Briefly used his name? Who is his? Could it be Joseph Smith? Clearify man, clearify! Was Joseph Smith the founder of YOUR CHURCH?

That makes your Church Cult?

Just Currious. Plus I like to rattle your chains.

Skippy, you need to work on your reading comprehension.  I never said, "He briefly used his name."  I said, as you and others can easily verify from reading what I posted above, "He briefly used that name." "That name", as any competent reader of the string would know, is the name semiannualchick was asking about, namely "Church of Christ."   It's all up there in black and white, Skippy; you just somehow missed it and turned it into something it was not.   Maybe you just got so feverishly caught up in rattling my chain that you rushed to rattle without correctly comprehending what I wrote.  Try reading all the words carefully, Skippy.  If it helps you to move your lips as you read, then take advantage of that technique. You really should seize upon any aids to reading that are available; it will help you to avoid embarrassment.

I am not, and never have been affiliated with any church, cult, or heretical spin-off religion that has origins with the false prophet and lying deceiver Joseph Smith, Jr. The church of which I am a member was founded by Jesus Christ.  He said (Matthew 16:18), "Upon this rock I will build my church...." For further education on this matter, I suggest you consult Ephesian 5:23-29, which establishes ambiguously and with utter finality the matter of who established the church described in the New Testament.  Hint: It was NOT Joseph Smith, Jr., lying false prophet.

Since the church in the New Testament was founded by Jesus Christ and since you credit Joseph Smith with founding the LDS Church, that must logically mean that the LDS Church is not the same church as the one founded by Jesus Christ.

It is a serious thing to give credit to a man for that which ought to be credited to the Lord Jesus Christ, Skippy.  It is called blasphemy.  Unrepented of, it can result in a very long stay in a very hot location!

Blasphemy is one of man's more ridiculous inventions.

Contendah yesterday I said,

“Contendah,

sounds like your getting slammed to the mat. Question, what the heck are you talking about?

Then You Replied,

“Skippy, you need to work on your reading comprehension. I never said, He briefly used his name."

2 days ago Semi said this,

“I don't know for a fact that it's true but I've heard & read many times over the years that Joseph Smith was the founder of the Church of Christ in 1830.”

Then you said this,

“He briefly used that name,”

Sounds pretty clear to me.

Depleted uranium is one of the densest elements known to science, Skippy, but it is not nearly as dense as you are demonstrating yourself to be.

There really is a difference between "his" and "that."  As to the meaning of what I wrote, my point  ought to be obvious, namely  that  "Church of Christ" was a name that Smith used to identify his cult in its very early stages.

Be advised also, Skippy, that when you place something in quotation marks, it is supposed to appear precisely as in the original from which you are quoting.  You misquoted what I said, substituting "his" for "that." Having misquoted me, you then proceeded to express puzzlement and ask what I meant by the misquoted statement.  I am not obliged, Skippy, to answer to something I never said or wrote. Perhaps you would not become so confused if you would actually deal with what is placed before you instead of altering it to something it never was and then not being able to figure it out.  You really should try to make it easier on yourself, Skippy.  If you would pay better attention, you might and avoid the continuous run of embarrassment you expose yourself to.

You and I and anyone else who has learned much about the false prophet, Joseph Smith, Jr., know that the  charlatan used only that name, Joseph Smith, Junior, during the entire period of his sojourn on this planet.

Obviously it wasn't God so who?

What authority?

The Bible isn't the Priesthood by the authority John the Baptist Baptized.

There you go, Skippy, trying to evade the charge (the correct charge) that you misquoted me and then became puzzled because your mis-quote did not make sense to you.

God established the church.  It is HIS church, purchased by the blood of His Son.  It is described in full detail in the New Testament and when believers follow the scriptural pattern for the church that is set forth in the New Testament, they become part of God's church, the same church that is described in the Bible. It needs no human priesthood such as the Melchizedek priesthood or the Aaronic priesthood, since it is a priesthood of all believers and since the Old Testament priesthood has been done away with, as clearly set forth in Hebrews 9, which you need to study carefully.
