Really? We know Palin enjoys talking turkey, I didn't know she enjoy talking turkey while killing turkeys.

1. She didn't kill any turkeys in that video.

2. It's a turkey farm, that's what they do. It's either they kill them, you kill them, or you become a vegetarian and eat tofu.

I do interviews on a regular basis, I have for years. The very first thing I look at when establishing a shot is lighting. The second is background.

That photog, reporter, producer, everyone there knew exactly what was going on behind her and did not stop the shot. A tighter shot, a slight turn, or simply asking the guy to give them 2 minutes would have solved the problem.

So the video doesn't make Palin look bad as intended, it makes the photog and reporter look like amateurs.

Can anyone explain what that contraption does? I don't get it. It looked like the turkey thrashed around for quite awhile before it died.

Marian, like a funnel shaped device where the turkey's head is exposed thru the bottom. They probably then cut the turkey's head off and the blood will drain out, it is similar to the automated devices used in chicken slaughter as well, except those typically are electrified and the chickens hang by their feet. The elctric shock supposedly kills them or stuns them. The primitive Alaskan turkey killer contraption probably prevent the turkey from clawing and scratching at the butcher.
If you grew up on a farm you probably have seen a chicken killed so it was not that traumatic for most of us.

I think I'll be having the tofu this Thanksgiving. Thank God Chinese restaurants are always open on American holidays.
