I'm not a fan of saggy pants or seeing other people's fruit of the looms but it's crazy to try and pass a law to stop it. Even if someone's drawers are showing it does fall short of being indecent as at least the parts are covered and even moreso that they would if one was wearing a small swimsuit. I don;t like the idea of some backwooods councilman thinking that the town has the power to impose dress codes on residents and visitors.

There have been dress codes for years. Try walking downtown naked, and see what happens.

You're hardly comparing apples to apples, I would doubt you would fing many places where it isn't legal to wear a swimsuit in public which is about as close to naked as one can get. If someone is sagging, they're still covered,

So, you must be one of the "cool dudes", who think that wearing your pants down around your knees and pulling your underwear up under your armpits is a fashion statement. And Halloween is still two months away.

Your statement makes no sense as I had already said in my first post that I don't likie seeing other people's drawers but the people who wear their pants that way are not hurting anyone and not being indecent.

Personally I love this practice. It is halarious watching these want to be punks trying to run after breaking some other law, tripping and falling flat on their faces. Or watching one carrying a book in their mouth on the way to school so they can use their hands in an attempt to hold their pants up, what idiots!!!

LMAO!

I have seen that one lotsa times!

I agree- It looks stupid as hell, but it's not in violation of the Code.

Perhaps that council member needs his work load increased? Or maybe a different job?

I saw a young man with the low rider pants a few months ago. He had a little girl by the hand. The little girl dropped his hand and was running away( she was probably embarassed). Dude could not run after the child. A neighbor had to stop washing his car to scoop up the child to keep her out of the street. I thought it was too funny, I had to roll down my window and sing "Pants on the Ground".
Other than a possible safety issue, I say live and let live, of course I am a bleeding heart, knee jerk liberal. These young peoplw will regret it in a few years just like we regretted the big hair, BAHAHA!

Why would you call the council member an idiot but not the person with the crotch of his pants hanging to his knees? In my opinion, the one wearing those pants is the idiot.

Most swimsuits are worn in or on the water. If they ban those saggy pants, they should also ban the shorts the young girls wear with their butts hanging out & tops that show every part of their boobs except their nipples.

Horror of horrors! I find myself in 100% AGREEMENT with jimi on this one!  Who say's 'common ground' cannot be found among disagreeing parties?

Although I would have never allow my children to go around with the saggy britches look, it is still a parent'schoice whether or not to let their kids dress that way. I say as long as their behinds are covered (even if it is just by their drawers) that it is not indecent and that George and the rest of the council should mind their own business and work on things that matter. The short of this is that he is trying to cross boundries into personal liberties which labels him an idiot in my book.  As far as whether or not most people agree with him or not is hardly an issue either as you cannot use a majority rules stance to infinge on someones freedom of expression.

There is always some fad going on that makes the people who partake of it look stupid, right now one of them is the saggy pants thing. A few years ago we had the punk rock look, parachute pants, and let us never forget the disco era, laws were attempted back in those days too.

Whoa, Nelly.  Sagging is one thing but we have double standards here, ma'am, and by golly will uphold them.  There is nothing wrong with ladies doing that.

Don't ask me why, that's just the way it is.
