corndog-These pics are awesome. Where is this place?
This is just on this side of Chattanooga, TN....They actually run the generators in reverse to use them as a pump to move water from the Tenn. River to a man made resevoir on top of the mountain..Then they run the water from the resevoir through the turbines to produce electricity. I should add they only pump when the electric rates are cheap and they generate when the rates are high.
Awesome pictures. I love dams and out of the way(isolated) TVA facilities have taken many pictures of them here in the Tennessee Valley. I'm gonna have to look this up and make a road trip soon. Thanks for sharing these!
If it is still like it was last time I was there, the visitors station is on top of the mtn, and you ride an elevator down into the plant and then after the tour back up. Lets just say the elevator goes reeeeeeaaaaaaalllllly fast !!!!!
Sounds like a neat place.
