Hi, just wanted to share two things.

Number 1 -my hubby and one of my friends each made a mistake and listed their cell phone number on one of the polls/tests on FaceBook. Actually, hubby did it twice. Each one resulted in a $10 charge on our next cell phone bill (total of $20 for us) because when you get to a point in the process where they take your cell phone number down, it enrolls you in some downloading service plan (which will then be added EVERY month to your phone bill until you stop it). When I called Verizon they said they couldn't take it off for the first month but could put a block on the expanded (or deluxe or something along those lines) texting service. WE don't need that service so I dropped it and emailed both of the companies who had charged us but they refused refunds as they maintain we knew we were signing up for the service. So, watch out where and how you enter your phone number online anywhere.

Number 2 - We just completed our first year of the Comcast Triple Play package and I know it will be going up. Received offer in mail from Comcast that if we signed up for another year it would be $114.95. Still pretty good. I called the number on the promo and told them to set that up. The rep said I didn't HAVE to call, it would have been done automatically. I said, fine. Two weeks later, I get the same offer in the mail again. Didn't call, figured they are just following up. Two nights ago got a phone call from Comcast offering the $114.95 with an additional digital box. Ok, sounds good, we'll take it. Got my bill today - out the roof. I called Comcast and they have no idea what I'm talking about. Said I couldn't take advantage of another special for six months. Have to pay $$$ for six months. Rep said they have no knowledge of offers being made by people AUTHORIZED to make offers for Comcast. I really got pretty hot and said I thought it was pretty bad business to not know what others were doing in your name, and that the reps needed to know EVERYTHING that was being made available to VALUED AND LONG TERM CUSTOMERS. I apologized for my anger and told the rep I knew it wasn't her fault but who could I talk to? She said the only thing I can do is go to the local office. I was not amused. I despise going there and standing in line and arguing in front of everyone. But, I have no choice apparently.
SO, if you talk to anyone with Comcast get their name and phone number and date and time you talked to them so you can get what they offer you.

Just wanted to share these items to prevent headaches for others.
Have a great day, all!

We've had Comcast for 31 years, other than seven years we were in an area that didn't have it. I have always been happy with them because I know whatever issues I've had have been dealt with to my satisfaction. However, you would think they would be more attuned to their customers and also be aware of all the competition out there. I wish it wasn't such a huge deal to change my email address!!!

Thanks for the update. Good to know they care about their customers!

My parents dumped Comcast and got Dish Network or Direct. They kept being billed by Comcast and Mother kept having to call them until it was fixed.

The Comcast rep said, "I wish you had called us before you switched. We would have given you a deal to keep you."

This might be something to consider before you go to the trouble of switching.

it's funny how comcast can 'give you a deal' when they're about to lose a customer.
If may parents had known, they probably would have tried to negotiate with Comcast. They had no complaints with it. The thing they ended up with does not have the Indy car races, which is a disappointment to them. And all that extra equipment is a drag.

My parents switched because there was just one too many price hikes in a short period of time. Anyone who doesn't absolutely hate Comcast ought to call them up, tell them you can't afford their increases and that you're about to switch from them and see what they say.
I surely don't dispute anyone's bad experiences with Comcast, and understand the feeling of being "done wrong"; however, they have always given us good service and have been responsive on the rare occasions we had a problem.

I think these days many companies don't adequately train their representatives, and some employees don't have a good work ethic to begin with, or take any pride in what they do.
i pay about $75/mo for 8meg comcast+basic cable tv (10 channels)

in order to get 2m upload (the reason i pay for the 8m plan) i'd have to get 2 netspeednow plans, or 4 DSL plans (if it were available here)

until we have fiber to the home, comcast is my only option.

Here's my beef with Comcast:
They will announce with great fanfare that they will be adding two new channels! Woo-hoo! You hope against hope that it is Turner Classic Movies or the Biography Channel. Then you realize it is ANOTHER sports channel (as if 10 of them aren't enough) like the Soccer Channel or another channel that shows reruns of I Dream of Jeannie all day. Whoop-de-doo. Then, for the privilige of obtaining these channels, your rate is raised 10 bucks a month.
