I was wondering what others think about questions 4 & 5. Question 4 ask for your phone number, I look at this as I pay for my phone bill & I should be able to chose who I give it to. Question 5 ask you to list everyones complete name that lives at this address. I see no reason that they need to know everyones name. They could take the information we give & put it with your address on the form & know exactly where everyone in the United States lives. This would be a great data bank of each person living in the u s. I know the law says this can't be used for anthing else, but to you really believe this. This is like the IRS telling people their tax information is private, but now it is going to be mixed in with the new health program. This would be perfect to double check everyone if they ever issue national i d cards. This will tell the gov't how many & where every 22 year old person lives or where every person age 70 to 80 lives at. I just don't think they need that kind of personal information. I know the law says you have to fill it out completely. The purpose of the census is to know how many people live in the u s and the number of people in each congressal district to distrube the congress people around. It seems they want to keep up with us more than they want to keep up with the illeagal people coming across the border.

Census isn't only for a population count it keeps up on demographics in areas and such. So, I can't see why you are worried about the census knowing where people of certain ages live. We get certain tax money and services depending on our population and demographics of a certain area. New businesses moving to the area also check demographics to see if the population is suitable to their product. What is the harm of people/government knowing the shoals population is made of X% underage, X% 18-25, etc., etc.

Census attempts to count illegals too, what do you want the census to do about illegals? They aren't border patrol or immigration.
If you don't completely fill out the "short form", they will send a representative to your door to do a more intrusive survey. I gave them my phone number but I considered putting, "WHO CAN AFFORD ONE???"

I thought they did not need to know if my home was paid off, mortgaged or rental...that is financial and there should not be financial questions on a population count.

Were you referring to Osama Obama...??? I DO believe the party in power at the time of the census certainly has undue leverage and influence controlling the implementation of collected data.
ffemt, I am not against giving the age or sex of family members. I said phone number & names, I am against. Yes names are connected to addresses in seversal places, but the census will be the only federal location where everything is already put together for use at a minutes notice. The other locations would have to have a good deal of work on them to get them in an organized manner. I still see no reason given on the forum to give the census names & phone numbers. Actually I gave up my att house phone several years ago when the cost just got too high. Yes I know they are suppose to contact you for the additional info. So I think I will just write no phone and make up names for the other part draw a line thru it or mark N/A. Thanks for the replies.

Ah, I just figured by this statement you were upset about them knowing demographics too.
