this article about assistants being retained tells me that UNA athletics is being ran by a UNA Trustee(Bobby Lowder wannabe)instead of getting the best head coach possible. This is not about the current assistant coaches...we have some very fine coaches...but this would be like telling nick saban that he was gonna have to keep mike shulas' staff...What coach in his right mind would come to a university with that situation..These coaches should be interviewd by the new coach...We went the assistant coach promotion several years back and you see how that turned out..(Couldn't even beat O'HATCHIE @ home)Coach Hud made us forget that...thankfully..And this is not a knock on Coach Hyde...Coach Wallace would probably never have won those championships without him...guess i
'll spending alot of time between Livingston & Starkville...maybe come to Braly to watch UWA in the championship game....

Wow, you don't even know how this is going to pan out and you are already knocking the decisions? UNA has been very very successful in all aspects of the game, and, though it may have not worked out in the past, promoting an assistant may be a very good move. UNA has recruited very strong players and keeping the staff intact will help keep the process going.

I hate to say it but thats what a lot of us said back in '97 when Bobby left. We were wrong.
I agree with the statement i thought we should go with a new coach that could bring his on staff in. If it is coach edd i would be happy, but not if he cant make his on decisions. For the short period of time i was around the UNA football program i did get the feeling that it was Coach edds original offense anyway, but that it was prefected with the combinations of coach huds background. But still the decision to keep the assistants is a mistake. where it is a wannabe booster and just a way to save money i beleive that it is a mistake.
yeah wb...i agree with you...coach edd is a very good coach...and if una were to hire him i would like to see him be able to keep or replace whom ever he wants...we have some very good assistants on the staff...but let him or whoever they hire decide who to keep or not keep...cause as bill parcells says...if you're gonna ask me to cook the dinner at least let me buy the groceries.....
some good candidates out there that are probably interested in the job......... willie slater would be a great hire. rob likens( former asst. under coach wallace) has been o.c. at 1-aa central connecticut, whose offenses have put up big #'s and a bunch of wins; word is that rob is very interested in the UNA job. we a need a good one to keep the ball rolling.
