Is unauthorized the new word for illegal? In fairness to the "illegal" immigrants, the problem is not them, but the employer that violates the law by hiring and taking advantage of the illegal immigrants with jobs that are of a substandard wage and many times substandard working conditions. The employer should be the target of laws that aready exist. They are the ones who are lining their pockets with profits gained by using those that seek these substandard jobs because they are unfortunately better jobs than those available in the home country they immigrated from.

Being in the USA with an expired visa, which is the case with most illegals, is not a criminal offense, but is a civil offense.  Most cannot be held in a jail or prison unless they have already violated a deportation order. Being in the country illegally is about the same as an overdue library book in the eyes of the law.

Getting caught entering the country illegally is a criminal offense and those caught will be held in jail until deported.

How or where can information be found that most "illegals" in violation of a civil offense versus the number that have entered the country illegally? Just curious.

I absolutely don't believe that. You have hundreds, or thousands, pouring over the border illegally every day, week, month and there is no way the ones here on a visa out number them.

Thank you for the information. Like Bestworking, I was going "hmmmmmm?" on the "most" part of your post.

I agree with glwingsmoke on the people hiring the illegals. On the other hand, if the person hiring is given a ss card (be it fake or real) and they hire them , they do pay taxes but get none of the benefits. If you just pick them up for day labor on the corner by Home Depot or somewhere tho, they don't pay taxes or anything.

While I think illegal is illegal, would they be here if legal residents would get off their *** and work?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who was "off their ***" and doing the work before the illegals found out they could run over the border, drop an anchor baby, and live off the government? Crops always got planted, picked- meat was processed, lawns got cut and manicured, and houses got built, roofed, bricked. It cost a heck of a lot less then and was done much better.

There are more lazy legals that ever.  I overheard a young lady telling someone else that working at fast food places was embarrassing.  I was not evesdropping, she said it loud and proud.  Since when in this country has honest work embarassing?  These are the same kind of people that are occupying Wall street.  I support the intent of the law, but if we are gonna celebrate the exodus of these folks, then the freeloaders need to get up and work.

I am not saying I disagree with the intent of the law.  But illegal immigrants would not be here if there was not a market for them.  The nonskilled worker wants skilled union worker wages without the sweat involved.  If the illegals were causing legals to be unemployed, then the unemployment rate in Alabama should drop noticably, should it not?

All I can do is repeat, the crops always got planted and picked. Meat got processed, homes got built, every kind of job you can imagine had workers. People could find jobs OR they could do like you say and lay around to lazy to work. Now all of a sudden the people who support illegals are trying to tell us we needed them. It's about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ the employers make, not the need for the illegals or the desire to "help" them have a better life, and it costs us, the taxpayers who don't "benefit" from the illegals. But people that speak against it are the bad guys? Why? And it does little to even mention the criminal element that comes across the borders too, because the criminal part is one that the supporters of the illegals want us to ignore.

some where something got lost in all of this. ILLEGAL means just that. If I park in a fire-zone, that is illeagal and I get a ticket. Parking there hurt no one unless there was afire and I was in the way but it was still wrong. I, like most of you do not beleive that vast majority of businesses hiring illegal immigrants ; know who they are hiring and how to get around the law. (I did not know); to me is B/S. If I had a business and had 7 workers. I paid 4 of these men $15.00 an hour and could get by with paying 3 of them only $8.00 because they were illegal, would I not be as guilty as they were? This has been a problem and gripe for a long time and now that something is trying to be done; people are all upset. You can't have it both ways. Illegal is wrong. They should not be here and neither should their kids. I know they were born here but the parents knew what they were doing when they had them.

Sounds like Bestworking's solution is to bring back slavery.

So you advocate changing the Constitution. Good luck with that.

All right young lady. You leave me no choice. I am going to have to put this on your PERMANENT RECORD!

Why white? Illegals come in all colors.

Who do you think hires them? White businessmen, perhaps?
