The California Fires that are causing such destruction and death are fed by the California winds and dryness but still, it's difficult to comprehend the scope of the damage.  The dollar amount of the damage alone is unfathomable not to mention the loss of human, and animal, life for those that either thought they could escape it and waited until they couldn't or those caught while attempting to evacuate.  It also seems we hear about these fires affecting California more than any other States and I wonder if part of the damage is due to certain State government policies?

Regardless of the causes and who, if any, are to blame it is a true tragedy for many and even though with respect to the whole of the state the areas that are burning are small in area for those affected they are huge and massive.  It seems that certain parts of the country are prone to various types of disasters such as for this area damage due to Tornados or from Hurricanes that come through the Gulf and into the state.  No doubt people will rebuild but with the fires and potential earthquakes that could strike at any moment, California is truly a risky location to live in even if for many it is paradise.

I feel sorry for the animals.

In some cases, the animals have no difficulty in assessing the threat and danger but sadly are captive and bound and unable to flee.  It is humans that are making unwise choices and decisions and many times suffering the result of their decisions.  Many people, even though warned, are in denial that such can happen and believe it won't happen to them.   Many may not have time to make those fateful decisions but others are just determined to control their own decisions and wait until it's too late.  They have difficulty in leaving behind their possessions and their property when told to evacuate and thus many stay believing they can weather the storm waiting too long and until it's too late once they realize that the situation is far beyond their own capabilities and abilities.

While it's sad and regrettable many deaths are the result of poor decisions and procrastination whereas with the animals they get caught up and overwhelmed due to actions of others when their natural inclinations are to flee and evacuate.

They go off and leave their animals to die. They should lose everything.

I, to, cannot imagine leaving pets to suffer a horrendous death like that.  I have pets and they are like family to me/us and neither my wife nor I could leave them behind if put in such a situation.  Even our outdoor animals are brought inside when the temps get very low so as to protect them.
